Stainless steel filter cartridges play a crucial role in the filtration processes of many fields. Titanium rod filters use a stainless steel housing, usually made of 316L or 304 stainless steel. This stainless steel housing complies with GMP standards. The core stainless steel filter cartridge is a titanium metal powder sintered filter cartridge, which is made through a powder metallurgy process by high-temperature sintering to form a hollow filter tube with a porous structure. This structural feature enables it to have a uniform microporous distribution and can stably retain particles above 0.2 microns. The filtration method combines surface filtration and deep filtration.
This stainless steel filter cartridge has many outstanding performances. It has high precision and can filter out particles above 0.2 microns at one time. The filtration precision is generally between 0.1 - 80 microns. It performs excellently in terms of high temperature resistance and can work normally in an environment below 280℃. Moreover, it has strong corrosion resistance and can adapt to various environments of acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents. It has high mechanical strength, a solid structure, and excellent airtightness, can adapt to harsh working conditions, and does not require frequent maintenance. It has no adsorption or loss to the filtering medium, will not change the composition of the original liquid, occupies a small area, and is flexibly installed, which can meet the requirements of various process layouts. In addition, it is easy to disassemble and assemble and supports multiple filtering configuration forms.
Due to these excellent performances, stainless steel filter cartridges are widely used in multiple industries. In the pharmaceutical field, they are mainly used for decarburization of liquid medicine and gas filtration, and can also be used for decarburization filtration and aseptic filtration in large infusion and injection production lines. In the food and beverage industry, they can be used for the clarification and filtration of beverages, beer, mineral water, wines, etc. In the chemical industry, they are suitable for high-temperature precision filtration of strong acids, strong alkalis, and organic solvents. When using stainless steel filter cartridges, certain specifications need to be followed. Avoid scratching and colliding with the filter cartridge to prevent dust or oil pollution. During the operation of the equipment, the working pressure shall not exceed the rated value. It is recommended to maintain low-pressure operation for 3 to 5 minutes at the initial startup stage, control the relative pressure difference within 0.5MPa, and then gradually increase it to the normal working pressure (not exceeding 0.4MPa). When the operation cycle is extended, if the front-end pressure rises and the flow rate decreases, it indicates that the filter cartridge may be blocked, and backflushing or regeneration treatment is required. The regeneration frequency is determined according to the actual working conditions, filtration load, and pressure difference changes.
As the filter cartridge is used, the flow rate will decrease and the inlet pressure will rise due to the accumulation of impurities. At this time, cleaning is required. The conventional cleaning methods include backflushing with clean water and chemical cleaning. Backflushing with clean water is suitable for new filter cartridges or slightly blocked situations. Use clean water with a pressure slightly higher than the working pressure (such as 0.3MPa) to flush in the reverse direction for 1 - 3 minutes. Chemical cleaning is for the situation where the effect is not good after multiple backflushing. You can choose a hydrochloric acid solution below 5%, a sulfuric acid solution below 8%, or a sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution below 10% to soak at room temperature, and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. The choice of pickling or alkaline cleaning should be determined according to the dissolution characteristics of the impurities in the filtrate. After cleaning, check the integrity of the filter cartridge to ensure that there is no damage or residual blockage before it can be put into use again.
