The TDR-4 Soil Electrical Conductivity (EC) Sensor is designed for accurate measurement of soil salinity by directly detecting soil electrical conductivity, which closely correlates with total soil salt content. With increasing soil salinization in recent years—caused by changes in surface water-heat balance and improper fertilization—the TDR-4 provides a reliable scientific tool for soil quality assessment and management.


Built with high-strength ABS engineering plastic and graphite electrodes, the sensor offers excellent sealing, corrosion resistance, and strong anti-interference capability, enabling long-term burial in soil without degradation. 2. Working Principle

The TDR-4 measures soil electrical conductivity by applying a voltage between two embedded electrodes and detecting the resulting ionic current in the soil.


The measured EC value (mS/cm or μS/cm at 25°C) reflects the concentration of soluble salts in the soil—an essential indicator of soil fertility and potential salinity stress on crops.


Higher soil salinity can inhibit plant growth or cause root damage, making continuous EC monitoring critical for sustainable agriculture and irrigation management.
