Features:
Four 25-pin multi-protocol EIA-232-D serial ports
The MVME712M is an I/O conversion module for the MOTOROLA MPU VME module, VME processor module, Embedded controller, and Single Board Computer (SBC) family of processor modules. The MVME712M is compatible with MVME147, MVME1600, MVME162, MVME2600, MVME167, MVME2700, MVME177, MVME3600 and MVME4600. The MVME712M serves as the interface between the processor module and its peripherals. The purpose of this module is to provide industry standard connectors for the rear panel to simplify the cable requirements of external customers.
The P2 adapter assembly routes the I/O signal and ground from the P2 connector on the chassis backplane (at the VMEmodule MPU connection) to the MVME712M. The MVME712M routes signals to four serial ports and has four industry-standard DB-25 connectors on its front panel. The serial port can be configured as EIA-232-D DTE or DCE via the jumper arrangement on the MVME 712M. The MVME712M front panel also has Ethernet ports, SCSI ports, and printer ports. In addition, the MVME712M routes the EIA-232-D port 2 signal to the internal modem.
The MVME712M requires a P2 adapter board that is not included. P2 adapter board features include:
Allows SCSI cables to be connected to other SCSI devices and/or via flat ribbon cables
Connector for the MVME712M • A SCSI terminating resistor mounted in a socket for configuration at the end of the cable or in the middle of the cable
• Terminal power supply developed on P2 adapter from +5 volts DC on connector P2, and fuse (1 A) on P2 adapter
• Connect the EIA-232-D port, printer port, SCSI and Ethernet signals to the connector of the MVME712M
