MATTING AGENT TP151
MATTING AGENT FOR EPOXY POWDER COATINGS
DESCRIPTION
MATTING AGENT TP151 is a special type of gloss modifier for epoxy-based powder coatings. Using 8-10 phr of MATTING AGENT TP151 with an epoxy resin cured with 3-6 phr of an epoxy curing agent such as our Epoxy Hardener TP91, most accelerated dicyandiamides, matte coating with good mechanical and chemical resistance properties. MATTING AGENT TP151 is most suited for formulating epoxy powder coatings with 60° gloss less than 10%.
A key feature of TP151 is the ability to maintain low gloss with low bake curing as low as 140℃ . The limiting factor for both low bake capability and low color advancement lies with the epoxy curing agent, not the MATTING AGENT TP151. Another key benefit of matte epoxy coatings using MATTING AGENT TP151 is good overbake yellowing stability which is linked to the choice of appropriate curing agent (such as OTB) for light colors.
As with any raw material, laboratory evaluation is required for each formulation to determine the best processing method and the optimum concentration of the additive.
