Singapore PSB Certification for Rice Cookers
Singapore PSB certification for rice cookers is a mandatory safety certification implemented by the Singapore government for electrical products such as rice cookers entering the market. It aims to ensure that products comply with Singapore's safety standards and regulatory requirements, protecting consumer rights.
I. Scope of Certification
PSB certification applies to a variety of household appliances and accessories, including rice cookers, such as cooking stoves, hair dryers, electric irons, microwave ovens, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, and more. There are 45 product categories subject to mandatory safety certification in Singapore, and rice cookers, as household appliances, are generally within the scope of this certification.
II. Core Certification Requirements
Single Model Certification:
PSB certification does not accept applications for series models. Each certificate covers only a single model. If a company has multiple rice cooker models, they must be certified separately. Testing Standards:
Certification testing is generally based on relevant International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards, such as IEC 60335-2-15 (Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2-15: Particular Requirements for Rice Cookers), with local differences in Singapore incorporated. Plug Requirements:
If the rice cooker is plug-in, the plug must comply with Singapore standards. For example, a European plug must comply with EN50075, and a UK plug must comply with BS1363 or SS246. The relevant plug test report must be provided. Certificate Holder:
The PSB certificate holder must be a company registered and tax-registered in Singapore, or a local company may be partnered with the local company to apply for the certificate.
III. Certification Application Process
Documents Required:
Detailed information and samples of the rice cooker to be certified. CB certificate and test report (valid within three years in English). Product circuit diagram, layout, bill of materials (BOM), architectural/engineering drawings, and parts list. English user manual and color photos (covering the exterior and internal critical safety components). Name, address, and contact details of the importer or agent in Singapore.
