I. Product Overview


Rockwell Automation 1746 - BAS is a basic power supply module in the SLC 500 series and an important part of the control system of this series. In the field of industrial automation, it mainly provides stable and reliable DC power for the racks of the SLC 500 series and various I/O modules, communication modules, etc. installed on the racks, ensuring that the entire control system can operate continuously and stably. IV. Working Principle


Power input and conversion: After 1746 - BAS is connected to an external AC power supply (120V/240V, 50/60Hz), it first converts AC power to DC power through an internal rectifier circuit. The rectified DC power is filtered by a filter circuit to remove ripples and noise in the current, resulting in a relatively stable DC voltage.


Voltage regulation and adjustment: The filtered DC voltage enters the voltage stabilizing circuit. The voltage stabilizing circuit performs precise adjustment according to the set output voltage (5V DC and 24V DC) to ensure the stability of the output voltage. Even if the input voltage fluctuates, the voltage stabilizing circuit can respond quickly. By adjusting internal circuit parameters, the output voltage is kept within the specified range to provide stable power for subsequent modules.


Power distribution: The 5V DC and 24V DC power supplies after voltage regulation are transmitted to the backplane bus of the SLC 500 series racks through dedicated output interfaces. The rack then distributes these powers to I/O modules, communication modules, etc. installed in each slot to provide power support for their normal work.


Operation of protection mechanism: During power conversion and distribution, the protection circuit monitors output current, voltage and other parameters in real time. When overcurrent, overvoltage, short circuit or other abnormal conditions are detected, the protection circuit starts immediately. It protects the power module itself and other modules connected to the rack from damage by cutting off the power output or limiting the current. When the abnormal situation is eliminated, the power module can return to normal working state to ensure the continuous operation of the control system.
