IV. Common Faults and Solutions


The actuator does not act
Possible causes: The power supply is not connected or the power supply voltage is abnormal; the control signal is not connected or the control signal is faulty; the motor is damaged; the transmission mechanism is stuck.
Solutions: First, check whether the power connection is normal, use a multimeter to measure whether the power supply voltage is within the rated range (380V AC±10%). If the power supply is abnormal, check the power supply line and power supply equipment; check whether the control signal line connection is firm, use a signal generator to detect whether the control signal is output normally. If the signal is abnormal, check the control system or signal transmission line; if both the power supply and signal are normal, the motor may be damaged and needs to be replaced; if the motor is normal, check whether the transmission mechanism is stuck by foreign objects or has damaged components, clean up the foreign objects or replace the damaged components.


Large deviation in valve adjustment accuracy
Possible causes: Abnormal position feedback signal; incorrect parameter setting of the positioner; wear of the transmission mechanism.
Solutions: Check whether the position feedback signal line is well connected, use a multimeter to measure whether the feedback signal is within the 4 - 20mA DC range and corresponds to the actual opening of the valve. If the signal is abnormal, check the feedback sensor or signal line; recalibrate the positioner parameters, set and calibrate the positioner according to the requirements of the product manual; if the transmission mechanism is worn, check the wear of gears, lead screws and other components, and replace the severely worn components.


Abnormal noise during operation
Possible causes: Poor lubrication of the transmission mechanism; loose components; wear of motor bearings.
Solutions: Lubricate the transmission mechanism by adding an appropriate amount of lubricating oil or grease; check whether the connections of internal components of the actuator are firm, and fasten the loose components; if the motor bearings are worn, replace the motor bearings to eliminate abnormal noise.


Frequent action of over-torque protection
Possible causes: The valve is stuck or there is foreign matter between the valve core and the valve seat; the over-torque protection parameter setting is unreasonable.
Solutions: Check whether the valve is stuck, clean up the foreign matter between the valve core and the valve seat, and maintain the valve; recheck and adjust the over-torque protection parameters to match the actual working conditions, so as to avoid misoperation of the protection device due to improper parameter settings.
