Working Principle


In the forward blocking state, the IGCT of ABB 5SGY3545L0003 withstands a forward anode voltage. When a suitable forward trigger pulse is applied to the gate, the gate current is quickly injected, prompting the PNP and NPN transistors inside the thyristor to interact and enter a positive feedback state, causing the device to turn on rapidly, with current flowing from the anode to the cathode. When the anode current drops below the holding current or a reverse anode voltage is applied, the internal conductive mechanism of the thyristor changes and returns to the blocking state.
