Bently Nevada 3500/94 Display Device Monitor
Bently Nevada 3500/94 display device monitor
I. Overview
The 3500/94 display device monitor is a dedicated display and control unit for the Bentley Nevada 3500 mechanical
protection system. It is mainly used for real-time monitoring of the operating status of rotating machinery and
provides data display, alarm prompts and system interaction functions through a visual interface. This module
complies with the API 670 standard and is applicable to the monitoring scenarios of key equipment in industrial fields
such as petroleum, chemical engineering, and power. It can work in coordination with other modules of the 3500
system (such as the vibration monitoring module, overspeed detection module, etc.) to form a complete mechanical
protection solution.
Ii. Core Functional Features
Multi-dimensional data display
Real-time display of all channel data within the 3500 system, including:
Vibration amplitude, phase and spectrum analysis (with vibration monitoring module required);
Mechanical parameters such as shaft displacement and expansion difference;
Rotational speed, key phase pulse and overspeed status (equipped with the 3500/53 overspeed detection module);
List of system alarm and trip events (supporting historical record query).
Supports the switching display of graphical interfaces (such as trend curves and bar charts) and digital/text
information, facilitating the quick reading of key indicators by operation and maintenance personnel.
Alarm and protection control
It is equipped with multi-level alarm thresholds (warning, danger). When the monitoring data exceeds the threshold,
the interface will highlight the alarm type in real time and trigger an audible and visual alarm (an external alarm device
is required).
It supports relay output control and can be linked to external devices (such as solenoid valves and stop buttons) to
achieve equipment protection and shutdown, meeting industrial safety standards.
Human-computer interaction and configuration
Equipped with a key/knob operation interface or touch screen (depending on the model), supporting parameter
setting, menu navigation and system configuration;
The display content, alarm logic and communication protocol can be customized through the 3500 framework
configuration software, and it is compatible with multiple industrial communication standards (such as Modbus,
Ethernet/IP).
Iii. Physical Interface
Communication interface: Supports interfaces such as RS-485 and Ethernet, and can communicate with the upper
computer or PLC system;
I/O interface: It provides analog output (such as 4-20mA) and digital input/output (DI/DO) for connecting external
instruments or actuators.
Power interface: Supports 115VAC or 230VAC power supply, and some models support DC power input.
Iv. Typical Industrial Application Scenarios
Steam turbine/compressor monitoring
It displays parameters such as shaft vibration, bearing temperature and rotational speed in real time. When the
vibration value exceeds the threshold, the interface automatically pops up alarm information and records the event to
assist operation and maintenance personnel in judging equipment faults (such as rotor imbalance and bearing wear).
Generator set status monitoring
Display rotor displacement, expansion difference and key phase pulse. Combined with the data from the 3500/53
overspeed module, it can achieve rapid protection shutdown when the rotational speed is abnormal, avoiding the risk
of equipment runaway.
Centralized monitoring by the central control room
The data of multiple 3500/94 monitors are uploaded to the SCADA system through the communication gateway
module (such as 3500/92), and the unified visual management of the equipment status of the entire factory is realized
in the central control room.
V. Maintenance and System Expansion
Daily maintenance
Regularly check the brightness of the display screen and the response sensitivity of the keys, and clean the dust on the
panel.
Confirm the hardware status through the module's built-in diagnostic functions (such as self-check menus) to avoid
misjudgment of monitoring data due to display failures.
System expansion capability
A single 3500 frame can be connected to up to 2 3500/94 display devices at most, supporting primary and backup
redundant configuration.
The system reliability can be enhanced by connecting printers, alarms or redundant power supplies externally through
the I/O interface.
Vi. Key Technical Parameters
Display resolution: 800×480 pixels (color LCD screen)
Refresh rate: ≥ 10Hz (Real-time data update)
Operating temperature: -20℃ to +55℃
Protection class: IP54 (when installed on the panel)
Communication protocols: Modbus RTU, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA
Summary
The 3500/94 display device monitor, as the "human-machine interaction hub" of the 3500 system, realizes the
visualization and intelligent management of the mechanical protection system through integrated display and control
functions. Its flexible installation method and strong compatibility make it a core component for equipment condition
monitoring in industrial sites, providing intuitive and reliable guarantees for the safe operation of equipment.
