Standard Requirements for Insulation and Sheathing of Charging Cables for New Energy Vehicles
EV charging cables are usually composed of conductors, insulation, fillers, tapes, sheaths, etc. Among them, the insulation layer is mainly to protect the conductor and provide insulation; the sheath layer is used to protect the cable, so what are the standard requirements for these two materials?
1. Insulation layer
(1) The conductor must be covered with the specified insulating material, and materials other than those specified in the standard shall not be used without authorization.
(2) The insulation must be extruded and must be solid and uniform. The insulation itself and the conductors must not be damaged after the insulation is removed.
(3) The value of insulation thickness must conform to the specified standard value. And the average value of the insulation thickness can not be less than the specified value, the thickness of the thinnest insulation should not be less than 90% of the specified value.
2. Sheath or outer sheath:
(1) The shielded or stranded core wire must be covered with the specified sheath material.
(2) The outer sheath must be a single-layer extruded sheath, and must be closely matched with each other, but cannot be bonded to the shield and the core wire.
(3) The specified value of the sheath thickness must meet the requirements of the standard.
(4) The average value of the sheath thickness should not be less than the specified value of the charging pile cable standard, and the thickness of the weakest part of the sheath should not be less than 85% of the specified value.
