Electric Vehicle Cable Selection Skills in Different Modes
At present, for electric vehicle charging, there are 4 charging modes, and we need to select cables according to the current of the charging infrastructure in different charging modes.
Charging mode 1: Since the charging socket is directly connected to the mains to charge the electric vehicle, the entire charging process lacks a safety protection system and has potential safety hazards.
Charging mode 2: The combination of single-head charging gun + cable + ICCB control box + plug connected to single-phase or three-phase power, the output current is 16A or 32A, compared with mode 1, a control box is added, which plays a certain protective role. It is recommended to use the 3*2.5+2*0.75 charging cable produced by OMG under the rated current of 16A, and the 3*4.0+2*0.75 charging cable produced by OMG is recommended under the rated current of 32A.
Charging mode 3: The combination method is double-headed charging gun + cable + charging pile connected to single-phase or three-phase power. The common output current is single-phase 16A. It is recommended to use 3*4.0+2*0.75 cable produced by OMG; single-phase 32A , it is recommended to use 3*6.0+2*0.75 cable produced by OMG; three-phase 32A, it is recommended to use 5*6.0+2*0.75 cable produced by OMG; three-phase 63A, it is recommended to use 5*16+2*0.75 cable produced by OMG ; Three-phase 125A, it is recommended to use 5*35+2*0.75 cable produced by OMG. Compared with Mode 1 and Mode 2, the output current is larger and the charging speed is faster. It is a more common charging mode in the market.
Charging mode 4: The combination method is charging gun + cable + charging pile connected to DC. Since DC is used for charging, the charging speed is the fastest, so the requirements for the cable are also higher, and a larger diameter cable is required to carry a larger current. , and also have higher requirements for the performance of all aspects of the cable. Common output currents in mode 4 are 80A, 125A, 200A, and 250A. It is recommended to use 2*20+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable, 2*35+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable, 2*50+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable produced by OMG respectively , 2*80+25+2*4.0+6*0.75 cable.
