QDD-N spring locked horizontal caliper disc brake
QDD-N is spring applied air release brake, it means this type of brake normally is in locked status, its working thoery is opposite with QDD air engagement brake. As this brake is braked by springs, so its braking force is less than QDD brake.
QDD-N type horizontal type pneumatic brake is large braking torque friction type spring enaged brake, it looks like air engaged caliper disc brake QDD type. There are two models of it: QDD-2N, QDD-3N. This QDD-N model brake is spring engaged, that is to say, when there is no air input, brake is braked for stopping, after inputting air pressure, two friction pads will release, braking in releasing.
This friction type brake can be work for high speed rotating clamp, so friction pads will be worn for continous usage. One piece of new friction pad thickness is 11mm, the max total worn of two pieces of friction pads is 12mm.
This type of QQD-N brake is controlled by springs, so braking force is controlled by springs quantity. As usually, it is 8 pieces springs, if you want to reduce braking force, the spring quantity can be reduce to 6 pieces as needed. On the other hand, although QDD-2N air volume is 300cm3, QDD-3N air volume is 700cm3, larger than QDD-2 and QDD-3. But its braking force is less than it. For example, when steel disc diameter is 711mm, QDD-2 brake torque is 2400N.m, while QDD-2N braking torque is 1700N.m. QDD-3 braking power is 4200N.m, and QDD-3N braking force is only 3350N.m.
On the other hand, for this structure and technical data table, we will know that QDD-3N braking force is nearly twice of QDD-2N. For example, when braking disc diameter is 300mm. QDD-2 braking force is 600N.m, while QDD-3 produce braking power is 1200N.m. Max braking torque of QDD-2N is 1700N.m, QDD-3N is 3300N.m.
