Steps that are not positioned after the correct index step are considered invalid and are displayed in red in the list. When these steps become valid (by adding index steps, changing dispense head assignments, etc.) they are then displayed in black.
Index to Transfer
Use the Index to Transfer option to insert an Index to Transfer step. An Index to Transfer step causes the rotary table(s) to move to the 9 x 17 inch position and index the required number of times to return to the transfer (or home) position. This eliminates having to determine how many Index steps to add to the product. Typically, an Index to Transfer step is added just in front of the final park step. This step is not required if the machine is configured with board handling because the final park automatically causes an index transfer.
To insert an Index to Transfer step:
1
Special Steps > Add > Index to Transfer
The index to transfer step is inserted in the list as the last step before
the park step. The index to transfer step is displayed in green.
Park
Use the Park option to insert a park step. A park step causes the X-Y table to move to a programmed location known as the park position. The Product Editor automatically places a park step at the end of the pattern. However, intermediate park steps can be added elsewhere in the pattern. For machines that are configured with board handling, the final park step causes the rotary table(s) to index the correct number of times to return to the transfer (home) position.

If the last step is not a park or index to transfer step, the product status in the Product Editor window indicates 'Add Final Park/Transfer Step'.
To insert a Park step:
1
Special Steps > Add > Park
The cursor is displayed as a horizontal arrow with a single footprint.
2
Feed-Only
Axial machines only. Use the Feed-Only option to insert a component feed step into the pattern. A Feed-Only step causes the head pitch wheels to index one position. This allows large components that occupy more than one space on the component feed wheel or check gaps to be programmed.
To insert a Feed-Only step:
1

Special Steps > Add > Feed-Only
The cursor is displayed as a horizontal arrow with a single footprint.
2
Clinch Down
Radial machines only. Use the Clinch Down option to insert a clinch down step into the pattern. A Clinch Down step causes the clinch to lower to prevent interference with table moves.
To insert a Clinch Down step:
1
Special Steps > Add > Clinch Down
The cursor is displayed as a horizontal arrow with a single footprint.
2

Transfer Steps
These transfer steps are only valid when importing or exporting UICS (Universal Instruments Control Software) patterns. These steps are not valid for IM-UPS products.
Machines equipped with Single Board Transfer (SBT) only. Use the Transfer Steps option to insert any of the following transfer steps into the pattern.

Input Transfer:  Used to transfer a board into the machine and to index the rotary table to the standard transfer position (0°).

Output Transfer: Used to transfer a board out of the machine and to index the rotary table to the standard transfer position (0°).

In/Out Transfer: Used to index the rotary table to the standard transfer position and transfer the board in and out of the machine on the same side.

Primer Transfer:  Used to transfer the first board of a batch into the machine and to index the rotary table to the standard transfer position (0°). This step is executed only once when activated and the board counts are set or reset after having been reached.

End of Batch Transfer: Used to transfer the board out of the machine when a batch is complete. This prevents the Single Board Transfer (SBT) system from waiting for a board from the next batch before releasing control to the insertion machine. When executed, the machine signals the SBT to stop input transfers when only one count before the maximum is reached.
To insert any of the transfer steps listed above:
1
Special Steps > Add > Transfer Steps > <Step Type>
The cursor is displayed as a horizontal arrow with a single footprint.
2
Bad Board/Circuit Reject (single head machines only)
Bad board/circuit reject is a process by which circuits of a segmented board (breakaway board with multiple circuits) are marked prior to the board being processed, so that flawed segments are not populated with components.

Bad board reject works one of the following ways.

When the board is processed by the machine, the BEC machine hardware checks the hole location.

Considerations:

A bad board/circuit step can be defined as an X-Y location or as an insertion hole.

When selecting the board or circuit on which to add a bad board/ circuit reject step, consider the following.
#NAME?
-Circuit selected:
Define for Offset Circuits checkbox selected: A bad circuit reject hole can be defined for the circuit. The hole is automatically defined for each associated offset.

Define for Offset Circuits checkbox cleared: A bad circuit reject hole can be defined for the selected circuit. Holes are not defined for associated offsets.
#NAME?
Different holes can be defined by repeating the process and selecting a different offset each time.
To add a bad board reject step:
1
Special Steps > Add > Bad Board/Circuit Reject
The Select Bad Board/Circuit Reject Circuit dialog box is displayed.
2

If Board is selected, the Bad Board Reject dialog box is displayed.
