Checkgap (axial machines only)
Use the Checkgap option to define a gap between sequences of components. A checkgap is an insertion with a check for no continuity to verify a gap in the component sequence. If a machine uses sequenced reels of components, and if there are gaps between the sequences, a checkgap must be defined.
During processing, when a checkgap step is encountered, the table moves to the X-Y position of the next insertion.
Checkgaps can be defined between boards and/or between individual circuits/offsets.

Checkgap between boards: Place the checkgap before the first insertion after each index. If there are no insertions for an index, no checkgap is necessary.

Checkgap between circuits: The insertion steps must be ordered by circuit before a checkgap can be used. For example, all insertions in one orientation for each circuit must be grouped. Place the checkgap before the first insertion for each circuit.

To define a checkgap:
1
Special Steps > Add > Checkgap
The cursor is displayed as a horizontal arrow with a single footprint.
2
Select the step in the list that is above or below (depending on the insert option choice) where the checkgap is to be inserted.
3
Select the left trackball button. The checkgap is inserted in the list accordingly. (Refer to the Insert topic later in this module for details about selecting the insert option.)
The checkgap entry is added to the Steps window.

Search
Use the Search menu bar heading to search, select, and replace items based on defined parameters.
Search and replace considerations:

The search is based on the step type which is selected from the Step list box. Once the step type is selected, unrelated data fields and option buttons are disabled.

When the cursor is moved to a data field in the Search and Replace dialog box, the Valid Entries list box displays the valid entry choices for the selected parameters.

Use the greater than (>) or less than (<) symbols in the search string to focus the search. For example, to search for all X position values greater than 2.000 inches, enter >2000 in the X Position field.

Use the symbols %+ or %- in the replace string to add or subtract from the existing numeric values. Typically this is used to change all the X or Y values by a certain amount. For example, to increase all the X Position values by 0.200, enter %+200 in the X Position field of the Replace column.

The default search direction is from the selected item in the list to the end of the list.

The search criteria remain in effect until changed or cleared, so be sure to clear the fields in the Search and Replace dialog box after completing search activities.
This Document Supports IM-UPS Version 3.1.x and Above

From the Step list box, select the step type. This enables options and data fields that correspond to the selected step type.
3
If, after selecting the step type, any of the option buttons are enabled, select the desired option.

Continuity: Searches only selected step types that are not defined as no continuity, ignore continuity, or bypass.

No Continuity: Searches only selected step types that are defined as no continuity steps.

Ignore Continuity: Searches only selected step types that are defined as ignore continuity steps.

Bypass: Searches only selected step types that are bypassed.

All: Searches all selected step types regardless of whether they are defined as no continuity, ignore continuity, or bypass.
4
