It is recommended that optimization not be performed if the product was created by importing an IMC pattern that has already been optimized. This is particularly important if the product is used on a machine that uses sequenced reels of components (6292/6298 Dual Head VCD). Optimization may change the insertion order, which in turn requires changing the order on the sequenced reel. 
The optimize utility cannot provide perfect optimization, however, it does provide a starting point for further manual optimization. After using this option, examine the product for further ways to manually optimize. 
To optimize a product:

Order > Optimize             
The Optimization Options dialog box is displayed.     
The warning, Optimization changes the insertion order!,is only displayed for Dual Head 8 VCD products.

Select Optimize and Sort By options as described later in this topic.

Select Optimize to perform the selected optimization. An Optimiza-tion Progress dialog box is displayed. 
Select Esc=Cancel to return to the Product Editor without performing any optimization. 
For Radial and VCD Sequencer products, if no optimize options are selected, optimization only assigns dispense head numbers to dispense heads currently assigned to zero. 
               
To stop optimization and return the product to its pre-optimized condi-tion, select Esc=Cancel. It may take several seconds before a mes-sage is displayed indicating that optimization has been cancelled.

Select OK. Repeat optimization with Add Dispense Heads selected. 
If conflicts still remain, manual intervention is required.   
. If Eliminate Conflicts is selected and Add Dispense Heads is selected, and conflicts still remain, this message is displayed. 
Select OK. Manual intervention is required to eliminate the remaining conflicts.
