Product Positioning and Product Features

The OptiX Metro 100 is a type of STM-1 case-shaped equipment developed by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Huawei). The OptiX Metro 100 is mainly used at the access layer of transmission networks, with the features of high integration, flexible installation modes, and low power consumption.

Product Positioning

The OptiX Metro 100 is used at the access layer of a transmission network. The OptiX Metro 100 provides STM-1 optical interfaces and works with the other access-layer equipment to form an entire equipment group at the access layer of a transmission network, therefore constructing a complete OptiX product series of Huawei.

Product Features

The OptiX Metro 100 supports various services interfaces, power input modes, and installation modes, and a high security mechanism.

Various E1 Service Interfaces

The OptiX Metro 100 supports three types of physical interfaces:

  • RJ-45 (120 ohms)
  • BNC (75 ohms)
  • DB15 (X.21)

High Network Security Mechanism

The OptiX Metro 100 supports the Radius security control, that is, the user names and passwords of all NEs are managed in a unified manner through the server of the user. Any user must pass the authentication before logging in to the NE. Therefore, the network security is high.

Support for Device Stack

The OptiX Metro 100 supports a maximum of 1+3 device stack (one master device and three slave devices), that is, 16xE1 services are configured into one optical channel.

Support for Default Settings

The OptiX Metro 100 is configured and maintained with the NMS and Web LCT, supporting the "one-click recovery to default settings" function.

Various Installation Modes

The OptiX Metro 100 can be installed in various ways. Therefore, you can select a proper installation mode according to the actual situation.

The OptiX Metro 100 supports the following installation modes:

  • Cabinet-mounting (19-inch cabinet, ETSI 600 mm cabinet, or ETSI 300 mm open cabinet)
  • Wall-mounting
  • Desk-mounting

Various Power Input Modes

The OptiX Metro 100 supports the following power input modes:

  • 110 V/220 V AC power input, the power input range is 90 V to 264 V, with the frequency in the range of 47 Hz to 63 Hz.
  • -48 V/-60 V DC power input, the power input range is -38.4 V to -72 V.

The OptiX Metro 100 supports one AC power input and one DC power input at the same time. The two power inputs back up for each other. The AC power input is controlled by a switch, whereas the DC power input is not. When the AC power input and the DC power input are unavailable at the same time, the OptiX Metro 100 reports the VOLT_LOS alarm indicating a power failure.

Low Power Consumption, Natural Heat Dissipation, and High Integration

  • Supports a maximum power consumption of 16 W only.
  • Supports natural heat dissipation and produces low noise.
  • Supports high integration.

Protection Capability

The OptiX Metro 100 supports the equipment level protection and network level protection.

Equipment Level Protection

The OptiX Metro 100 supports the following equipment level protection schemes:

  • Power supply protection

The AC power input and the DC power input back up for each other. When only either of the power inputs is available, the NE can continue to operate properly. When neither of the power inputs are unavailable, the device reports the VOLT_LOS alarm indicating a power failure.

  • Anti-reverse protection

The power supply provides anti-reverse protection.

  • Lightning-proof protection

The power supply provides protection against lightning attack, overcurrent, and short-circuit.

Network Level Protection

The OptiX Metro 100 supports the following network level protection schemes:

  • 1+1 or 1:1 linear multiplex section protection (MSP)
  • SNCP

DCN Features

The DCN feature is used when the OAM message of the OptiX Metro 100 needs to be transparently transmitted by the third-party equipment, or when the OptiX Metro 100 needs to transparently transmit the OAM message of the third-party equipment.

To exchange network management messages between the OptiX Metro 100 and the third-party equipment, the following modes can be adopted:

  • Extended DCC bytes: The 4x(D1 to D3) bytes or 4x(D4 to D12) bytes can be used for embedded control channel (ECC) communication.
  • Transport Protocol Class 4 (TP4), that is, OSI over DCC
  • IP over DCC
  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)

SDH Clock

The OptiX Metro 100 supports various synchronous Ethernet clock sources and clock management functions.

The OptiX Metro 100 supports the following clock functions:

  • External clock source
  • Line clock source
  • Tributary clock source
  • Internal clock source
  • Tributary re-timing function
  • One 2 Mbit/s phase-locked source
  • Standard Synchronization Status Messaging (SSM) protocol
  • Tracing mode, hold-over mode, and free-run mode
