1. Product Introduction

Ship Plate, also known as Ship Building Steel Plate and Marine Steel Plate, is a special hot‑rolled steel manufactured strictly in accordance with international classification society standards. It serves as the core load‑bearing material for ship hulls, decks, bulkheads and offshore engineering structures. Different from ordinary structural steel, this professional Marine Steel Plate features excellent low‑temperature toughness, lamellar tearing resistance, seawater corrosion resistance, fatigue impact resistance and superior weldability, adapting to harsh marine conditions such as salt fog corrosion, wave impact and alternating loads. The product series includes ordinary‑strength and high‑strength Ship Building Steel Plate with complete Z‑direction performance grades (Z15/Z25/Z35). All Ship Plate products are certified by mainstream international classification societies. Widely applied in inland ships, ocean‑going vessels, container ships, oil tankers and offshore platforms. Custom processing such as cutting, flattening, ultrasonic testing, sandblasting and painting is available for bulk domestic and export orders.

2. Material Grades

- Ordinary Strength Grades: CCS A/B/D/E, ABS A/B/D/E, LR A/B/D/E, DNV A/B/D/E, BV A/B/D/E. Grade A for inland and coastal ordinary vessels; Grade B with better toughness for general offshore ships; Grade D/E with outstanding low‑temperature toughness for ocean‑going and polar route vessels.

- High Strength Grades: AH32, DH32, EH32, FH32; AH36, DH36, EH36, FH36; AH40, DH40, EH40. Letters A/D/E/F represent decreasing low‑temperature impact temperatures; F grade is suitable for ultra‑cold sea areas and polar marine projects.

- Z‑Direction Grades: Z15, Z25, Z35, designed for thick plates and high‑stress welded structures to prevent lamellar tearing in key load‑bearing hull parts.

- Special Marine Grades: seawater corrosion resistant plate, low‑temperature high‑toughness plate, ship boiler and pressure vessel plate for oil tankers, chemical tankers and polar research vessels.

3. Execution Standards & Certifications

5. Process & Surface Treatment

Ship Building Steel Plate is produced with low‑sulfur and low‑phosphorus steel billets through refining and precise temperature‑controlled rolling. Strict carbon equivalent control ensures excellent weldability of the Ship Plate. Controlled rolling refines the metallographic structure, greatly improving low‑temperature toughness and structural stability of the Marine Steel Plate to resist marine alternating impact loads. Ordinary‑strength plates are delivered in hot‑rolled condition; high‑strength, low‑temperature and thick Ship Building Steel Plate adopt normalized heat treatment to eliminate rolling stress and avoid deformation and cracking. All batches of Ship Plate pass mechanical property testing, low‑temperature impact tests and ultrasonic non‑destructive inspection, fully complying with classification society standards. Custom sandblasting, epoxy zinc‑rich primer and marine heavy‑duty anti‑corrosion coatings are available for long‑term marine anti‑corrosion protection. Complete inspection certificates and third‑party SGS/BV inspection are supported for exported Marine Steel Plate.

6. Product Advantages

  1. Full Classification Society Certification: Full‑series Ship Plate holds valid CCS, ABS, DNV, LR certificates, fully compliant with global shipbuilding and offshore project bidding & acceptance standards with zero export barriers.

  2. Superior Low‑Temperature Toughness & Impact Resistance: Grade E/F low‑temperature Marine Steel Plate maintains stable toughness in ultra‑cold sea areas, effectively preventing low‑temperature brittle fracture for ocean‑going and polar vessels.

  3. Excellent Weldability: Strict control of impurities and carbon equivalent reduces welding crack risks, ensuring smooth welding forming and stable structural safety for large‑scale ship assembly.

  4. Marine Environment Adaptability: Outstanding seawater corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance and lamellar tearing resistance, adapting to high‑salt, high‑humidity and alternating load marine environments with long service life and low maintenance cost.

  5. Complete Specifications & Customization: Full coverage of ordinary/high‑strength, Z‑direction and low‑temperature special grades, supporting fixed‑size cutting, NDT testing and anti‑corrosion deep processing for differentiated marine structural requirements.

  6. Traceable Export‑Grade Quality: Each batch is equipped with complete ship inspection certificate, MTC, mechanical test report and NDT report. EN10204‑3.1/3.2 documents and third‑party inspection are available for overseas customs clearance and high‑end project acceptance.

7. Application Scope

- Inland & Coastal Vessels: Inland cargo ships, fishing boats, coastal transport ships and ferries adopting Grade A/B ordinary‑strength Ship Plate

- Ocean‑Going Commercial Vessels: Ocean container ships, bulk carriers and general cargo ships using DH36/EH36 high‑strength Ship Building Steel Plate for core load‑bearing structures.

- Special Ships: Crude oil tankers, chemical tankers and LNG vessels adopting corrosion‑resistant and low‑temperature high‑strength marine plates.

- Polar & Cold‑Region Vessels: Polar research vessels and cold‑region operating ships equipped with Grade E/F ultra‑low‑temperature Marine Steel Plate.

9. Order Note

Please specify grade, standard, certification society, dimension, Z‑direction requirement, NDT level, delivery condition and anti‑corrosion demand when ordering Ship Plate and Marine Steel Plate. Grade A/B is suitable for inland and coastal ordinary working conditions; Grade D/E/F high‑strength low‑temperature plates are preferred for ocean‑going and cold‑region projects; Z‑direction performance and NDT testing are recommended for thick‑plate key load‑bearing structures. Custom cutting, sandblasting, painting and deep processing are supported. Both small and bulk orders are acceptable for domestic shipbuilding, offshore engineering and overseas export procurement.

10. Notes

  1. Model Selection Accuracy: Ordinary Grade A Ship Building Steel Plate shall not replace Grade D/E/F low‑temperature plates for ocean‑going and polar vessels to avoid low‑temperature brittle fracture safety hazards. Offshore heavy‑duty and large offshore structures must adopt AH36/DH36/EH36 high‑strength grades.

2. Z‑Direction Matching: Thick plates (≥30mm) and high‑stress welded key hull structures must use Z15/Z25/Z35 tear‑resistant Ship Plate to prevent lamellar tearing under welding and load stress.

3. Standard Welding Process: Formulate matched welding parameters according to plate grade, control welding temperature and cooling speed to avoid welding defects and ensure hull structural strength and tightness.

4. Anti‑Corrosion Management: Bare plates without anti‑corrosion treatment shall be stored in dry and ventilated warehouses; avoid long‑term open‑air exposure and moisture rusting. Complete supporting anti‑corrosion coating timely after marine installation.

5. Heat Treatment Specification: Thick and low‑temperature high‑strength plates shall adopt normalized delivery condition; thin controlled‑rolled plates are prohibited from replacing thick normalized plates for core load‑bearing structures to prevent stress deformation.

6. Processing Requirements: Reserve process allowance during cutting, hole opening and bending; avoid forced processing causing stress concentration and cracking. Re‑inspect NDT for key processed components.

7. Acceptance Standard: Verify classification society certificate, material grade, dimension, low‑temperature impact and NDT data strictly on arrival. Plates with inconsistent certificates, surface rust deformation or unqualified performance are prohibited for shipbuilding construction.
