1. Product Introduction

Steel Strand is prestressed building material made by stranding multiple high‑carbon steel wires followed by stabilizing stress‑relief treatment. The mainstream is 1×7 structure Prestressed Steel Strand, divided into normal‑relaxation and Low‑Relaxation Steel Strand. It serves as core load‑bearing component for bridges, geotechnical anchorage, water conservancy and high‑rise building prestressed projects. The central wire has larger diameter than outer wires with uniform lay length, free of broken wires, loose strands and kinks. It features high tensile strength, large elastic modulus, excellent relaxation resistance and stable elongation. Tensioned together with anchorages, it improves bearing capacity and reduces structural self‑weight. Surface types include bright smooth, indented, hot‑dip galvanized, epoxy‑coated and unbonded steel strand. Smooth Low‑Relaxation Steel Strand is general‑purpose mainstream product. Indented strand enhances bond force with concrete. Galvanized and epoxy‑coated strands apply for heavy‑corrosion environment. Unbonded strand with HDPE sheath is used for post‑tension prestressed structures. Mass supply and project customization are available complying with GB, ASTM, EN and JIS standards for overseas export orders.

2. Material & Strength Grades

- Raw Material: SWRH82B high‑carbon steel wire rod with stable chemical composition as base material for Steel Strand production. 

 ‑ Domestic Tensile Grades: 1720MPa, 1770MPa, 1860MPa(mainstream), 1960MPa, 2000MPa, 2160MPa. For Low‑Relaxation Steel Strand, 1000‑hour stress relaxation ≤2.5%; normal‑relaxation ≤4.5%. 

 ‑ Strand Construction: 1×2, 1×3, 1×7(most widely‑used), 1×19. 1×7 dominates prestressed concrete projects. 

 ‑ Surface Types: smooth bright, indented, hot‑dip galvanized, epoxy‑coated, unbonded Prestressed Steel Strand

 ‑ Overseas Equivalent Grades: Grade250K, Grade270K(ASTM); EN10138 compliant; JIS G3536, meeting procurement requirements of overseas bridge and slope‑anchorage projects.

 ‑ Delivery Condition: finished coil after stabilizing treatment; smooth black finish, galvanized, epoxy‑coated, HDPE‑sheath unbonded. ‑ Marking Example:1×7‑15.20‑1860‑LWR (structure‑nominal diameter‑tensile strength‑low relaxation). 

 ‑ Performance Index: Elastic modulus 195±10GPa, total elongation after fracture ≥3.5%. Dimension, lay‑length, relaxation and breaking load comply with corresponding standards, meeting CE and third‑party inspection requirements.

5. Process & Surface Treatment

Manufacturing process for Steel Strand: SWRH82B high‑carbon rod → pickling & phosphating → wire cold drawing → precise stranding → constant‑temperature stabilizing stress‑relief → dimension calibration → full mechanical test → visual inspection → coiling & warehousing. Low‑Relaxation Steel Strand adopts dedicated stabilizing heat‑treatment to minimize long‑term prestress loss. Indented strand obtains continuous indentation on outer wires to improve concrete bond strength. Hot‑dip galvanized strand is anti‑corrosion by zinc coating. Epoxy‑coated strand forms protective epoxy layer. Unbonded Prestressed Steel Strand is coated with anti‑corrosion grease then covered with HDPE sheath. Custom cutting and marking service are available before delivery. Mill test certificates are supplied for each batch; third‑party inspection reports from SGS/BV are acceptable for key projects.

8. Lead Time, Packing & Shipping Documents

- Lead Time: 7‑10 working days for regular smooth Low‑Relaxation Steel Strand in stock; 15‑25 working days for customized galvanized, epoxy‑coated and unbonded products. 

 ‑ Packing: Coiled product with inner anti‑rust oil + VCI anti‑rust film, outer thick waterproof sheet, fastened by steel straps. Export coils are fixed on fumigated wooden pallets with corner protection, suitable for 40GP/40HC ocean‑going container shipment against collision and moisture rust. 

 ‑ Shipping Documents: Mill Test Certificate(MTC), mechanical test reports; EN10204‑3.1/3.2 certificates and certificate of origin available; SGS/BV third‑party inspection documents can be provided.

9. Order Note

Custom Steel Strand, Prestressed Steel Strand, Low‑Relaxation Steel Strand can be supplied according to drawings and project technical requirements. Please specify strand construction, nominal diameter, tensile grade, relaxation class, surface type, coil weight and whether cut‑to‑length service is needed. Deep‑processing such as hot‑dip galvanizing, epoxy coating and unbonded HDPE sheath are supported. Both bulk and project‑oriented orders are accepted for domestic and overseas prestressed‑engineering procurement.

10. Notes

  1. Selection principle: Low‑relaxation grade is preferred for ordinary prestressed components; normal‑relaxation strand shall only be used for secondary

components insensitive to prestress loss, do not arbitrarily replace low‑relaxation products.

2. Corrosion‑environment selection: Smooth black‑finish strand shall not be directly used for open‑air, coastal, underground high‑humidity or chemical‑corrosion conditions; galvanized, epoxy‑coated or unbonded anti‑corrosion type shall be adopted. 

3. Do not use steel strand with broken wires, loose strands, kinks or heavy rust damage. Sampling mechanical re‑inspection is required after material arrival. 

 4. Tension construction must adopt matched anchorages and grips; over‑tensioning is prohibited; follow design and specification strictly during tensioning operation. 

5. Execution standard, strand construction, diameter, tensile grade, relaxation class and surface treatment must be clearly specified in orders; no automatic technical upgrade. 

6. Coils shall be stacked with elevation, rain‑proof and moisture‑proof measures; avoid open‑air exposure. Rough dragging and dropping are forbidden during handling to prevent strand loosening and surface damage
