Product Introduction

Contrary to popular belief, centrifugal pumps (which are non-positive displacement pumps) are ideally suited for use in spray equipment equipped with computer-controlled systems due to their high flow rates and compact design. They deliver very high flow rates under low-pressure conditions, making them particularly well-suited for filling or transfer operations. Depending on the drive type and model, maximum pressure can reach 13 bar, so they are generally classified as low- to medium-pressure pumps. Flow rates during unpressurized delivery can reach 1,000 liters per minute or even higher.

A centrifugal pump is a type of fluid machinery. It utilizes centrifugal force to transport liquids. The fluid to be pumped enters the centrifugal pump through the suction pipe, is drawn in by the rotating impeller, and is discharged outward along a spiral trajectory. The resulting radial velocity of the fluid decreases outward (while the azimuthal velocity increases), causing the pressure inside the pump to increase outward, thereby delivering the fluid to the discharge pipe. In a centrifugal pump, the liquid to be pumped flows primarily in a direction perpendicular to the drive shaft (radial flow) and typically flows axially only at the pump inlet. If the impeller and pump casing are properly designed, the pump can also handle liquids containing solids (such as sewage). The criterion for determining the permissible size of solid particles is the so-called “sphere passage diameter,” which refers to the largest diameter of a sphere that the pump can pass through.

Performance Characteristics

Centrifugal pumps are not positive displacement pumps; therefore, they are capable of overcoming the resistance caused by closed valves. When the pump reaches its maximum shut-off pressure, it operates in “self-priming” mode without suffering any damage during this process. When regulating system flow, there is no need to install bypass pipes or safety valves, which not only greatly simplifies the installation process but also reduces costs. With few wear parts and no reliance on relief valves, centrifugal pumps offer a long service life and easy maintenance, making them ideal for handling abrasive and corrosive media. Thanks to the diverse combination of materials used for various components, centrifugal pumps are suitable for a wide range of agricultural chemicals.
