A square tube is a hollow cold-formed section steel with a square cross-section. In the industry, square and rectangular hollow pipes are collectively referred to as square tubes, while Rectangular Tube features a rectangular hollow cross-section. Square Tube is divided into two main categories: high-frequency welded square tube and Seamless Square Tube. Welded square tubes are cold-formed from steel strips and closed via high-frequency welding, featuring high production efficiency and complete specifications. Seamless Square Tube is manufactured by piercing and extruding round steel billets with no weld defects on the tube body. Rectangular Tube boasts balanced mechanical properties with excellent bending and torsion resistance. It is lighter than solid profiles under the same bearing capacity, effectively reducing the overall structural load. Square Tube has excellent machinability and supports various deep processing procedures including cutting, welding, bending and punching. 3. Material Grade Classification
3.1 Ordinary Carbon Square Tube
Q235B Square Tube: The most versatile Square Tube in the market with excellent plasticity, weldability and cost performance. As a widely used Rectangular Tube, it is suitable for ordinary factory frames, guardrails, photovoltaic supports and decorative frames. Sufficient spot inventory is available, making it the most in-demand alternative to basic Seamless Square Tube.
Q195/Q215 Square Tube: A low-carbon Square Tube with good ductility, ideal for bending and stamping processing. It is mostly used for light-duty shelves, simple fences and indoor decoration, belonging to an economical Rectangular Tube. It is generally not applied to heavy-load structures and rarely produced as Seamless Square Tube.
3.2 High-Strength Low-Alloy Square Tube
Q355B/Q355C Square Tube: A high-strength Square Tube with higher yield strength and excellent low-temperature toughness, featuring far stronger bearing capacity than Q235 materials. This Rectangular Tube is suitable for heavy-duty steel structures, mechanical equipment bases, bridge supports and large outdoor load-bearing frames.
