Steel Strand is high‑strength metal strand twisted by multiple high‑carbon steel wires and processed with stress‑relieving stabilization treatment. Featuring high tensile strength, low relaxation and low load loss, Steel Strand is a critical steel material for prestressed concrete construction, rock‑soil anchorage and bridge infrastructure. Mainstream Steel Strand includes Prestressed Steel Strand and Galvanized Steel Strand. Manufactured from SWRH82B high‑carbon steel, all Steel Strand delivers stable mechanical property and adapts to tensioning and anchoring construction. Prestressed Steel Strand serves for concrete prestressed components, while hot‑dip galvanized Galvanized Steel Strand provides outdoor anti‑corrosion performance for various infrastructure projects.
1. Product Classification
According to usage and surface treatment, Steel Strand is mainly divided into Prestressed Steel Strand and Galvanized Steel Strand. They differ in mechanical performance and anti‑corrosion grade for different project selection:
Prestressed Steel Strand: Prestressed Steel Strand is low‑relaxation bright‑surface Steel Strand, mostly 1×7 structure, twisted by 7 high‑strength wires with stabilizing tempering treatment. Prestressed Steel Strand owns high tensile strength and low stress loss, excellent bonding performance with concrete. As the most widely‑used Steel Strand for infrastructure, it can be supplied as indented type or unbonded type for bridge box girder, precast components, slope anchor cable and tunnel support.
Galvanized Steel Strand: Galvanized Steel Strand is hot‑dip galvanized after stranding process, with uniform and firm zinc layer for superior rust resistance. Unlike ordinary Prestressed Steel Strand, Galvanized Steel Strand can be directly applied in open‑air environment, resisting moisture and atmospheric corrosion. It is preferred Steel Strand for tower stay wire, overhead ground wire, outdoor anchor cable and cable‑structure projects.
2. Material Grade
Raw material for general Steel Strand: SWRH82B, SWRH77B high‑carbon steel wire rod, low impurity and good fatigue resistance for stable breaking load of Steel Strand.
Tensile strength grade: 1720MPa, 1770MPa, 1860MPa, 1960MPa. 1860MPa is the most popular grade for most Steel Strand engineering projects.
Export‑grade Steel Strand: Produced according to ASTM, EN, BS, JIS standards; mechanical index and zinc layer parameters can be customized for overseas orders.
3. Implementation Standards
Our Steel Strand complies with national standard GB/T 5224‑2023 for prestressed concrete Steel Strand; Galvanized Steel Strand meets GB/T 33363. Products also conform to ASTM A416, EN 10138, BS5896, JIS G3536 international standards.Steel Strand, Prestressed Steel Strand and Galvanized Steel Strand are fully qualified for domestic and overseas projects, third‑party inspection reports are available.
4. Specification Parameters
Main structure of Steel Strand:1×7; common nominal diameter:9.53mm,12.7mm,15.2mm,15.24mm,17.8mm,21.6mm. Continuous long‑length per coil without joint. Prestressed Steel Strand mainly bright low‑relaxation type, indented and unbonded version optional. Zinc coating weight of Galvanized Steel Strand adjustable upon request. Total elongation ≥3.5%, 1000‑hour low‑relaxation rate ≤2.5%. Strict dimensional tolerance, custom specifications available for export orders.

Galvanized Steel Strand is used for power tower stay wire, overhead ground wire, outdoor cable‑structure, open‑air rock‑soil anchorage and communication tower reinforcement with high anti‑corrosion requirements.
7. Packaging and Delivery
All Steel Strand is supplied in industrial coil, inner moisture‑proof film and outer steel‑strap reinforcement, suitable for truck, railway and container transportation. Wooden reel packaging for export orders. Delivery time for stock Steel Strand and standard Prestressed Steel Strand:3‑7 days. Custom Galvanized Steel Strand, special diameter & strength grade Steel Strand:7‑15 days. Mill test certificates and mechanical test reports can be provided, supporting multiple foreign trade terms such as FOB, CIF, DAP.
