1. Product Overview

OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) refers to a series of high-strength seamless steel pipes for the petroleum and natural gas industry, mainly including Oil Casing Pipe, Oil Tubing Pipe, drill pipes and line pipes. Manufactured by hot rolling process, the pipes feature uniform metallographic structure, excellent collapse resistance, tensile strength and torsion resistance.

  • Oil Casing Pipe: Run into the borehole and fixed by cementing to stabilize the wellbore, prevent formation collapse and isolate different geological layers.

  • Oil Tubing Pipe: Installed inside the casing, acting as the channel for crude oil, natural gas and injection medium to flow from the reservoir to the surface.

All Oil Casing Pipe and Oil Tubing Pipe can be processed with standard API threads and premium special connections. They are suitable for onshore oil wells, offshore oilfields, shale gas wells, geothermal wells and sour gas wells. The full range of OCTG Pipe meets diverse requirements of drilling, well completion and production operations.

2. Implementation Standards

✅ International Standards: API Spec 5CT, API Spec 5B, API Spec 5DP, ISO 11960; NACE MR0175 for sour service conditions

✅ Domestic Equivalent Standards: GB/T 19830, SY/T 6194All OCTG Pipe, Oil Casing Pipe and Oil Tubing Pipe are manufactured, inspected and marked in strict accordance with the above standards. Mill Test Certificates (MTC) are available, and third-party inspection services such as SGS, BV and CCIC can be provided to satisfy the bidding requirements of global petroleum engineering projects.

3. Raw Materials & Common Steel Grades

Base material: Carbon and alloy seamless steel

  • Conventional grades: H40, J55, K55, N80-1, N80Q, L80-1

  • High-strength & anti-corrosion grades: C90, T95, C110, P110, Q125

Selection Reference:

  • J55/K55: Shallow and medium-depth conventional oil wells;

  • N80/L80: Medium-deep wells and mildly corrosive environments;

  • P110/Q125: Deep wells and high pressure high temperature (HPHT) working conditions;

  • C90, T95: Sour gas wells containing hydrogen sulfide.

4. Production Process

Raw material incoming inspection → Heating → Hot piercing → Hot rolling → Sizing & straightening → Heat treatment (quenching and tempering) → NDT (Ultrasonic & Eddy Current Testing) → Fixed-length cutting → Thread machining → Coupling assembly and thread protection → Hydrostatic pressure test → Marking → Anti-rust coating → Packing.Whole-process quality control ensures stable mechanical properties and reliable thread sealing performance of every OCTG Pipe, Oil Casing Pipe and Oil Tubing Pipe.

All OCTG Pipe shall pass mandatory hydrostatic pressure test, ultrasonic flaw detection, tensile test, collapse test and hardness test. The pipes can withstand complex underground loads including tension, external collapse pressure, internal burst pressure and torsional load.

9. Quality Acceptance Standards

All OCTG Pipe, Oil Casing Pipe and Oil Tubing Pipe are inspected in accordance with API 5CT. No cracks, folds, severe pits or surface defects exist on the pipe body. Dimensional tolerance, thread parameters, mechanical properties and hydrostatic test all meet standard requirements. Mill Test Certificates (MTC) can be provided, and on-site third-party supervision and inspection are acceptable.

10. Precautions for Use

  1. Select appropriate steel grade, wall thickness and connection type of Oil Casing Pipe and Oil Tubing Pipe according to well depth, formation pressure and medium corrosivity. Unqualified substitute pipes are forbidden for downhole operations.

  2. Protect threads during loading, transportation and running in hole to prevent collision, scratches and thread deformation leading to leakage.

  3. For oil and gas wells containing corrosive media such as hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide, select anti-sour steel grades including L80, C90 and T95. Ordinary OCTG Pipe cannot be directly used in severe sour environments.

  4. Inspect pipe strings regularly during production. Stop operation timely once pipe deformation, leakage or corrosion is detected.

  5. If welding modification of OCTG Pipe is required, follow professional petroleum welding specifications and conduct post-weld inspection.
