🔹 Product Overview
The Spiral Chute (also called Spiral Concentrator or Gravity Spiral Separator) is a no-power, high-efficiency gravity separation device widely used in the roughing and scavenging of fine-grained heavy minerals from alluvial sand, beach sand, and crushed ore.
Made of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) with wear-resistant surface, it separates minerals of different specific gravity by the combined action of gravity, centrifugal force, and slurry flow in the helical trough — no electricity, no moving parts, minimal water consumption.
Typical applications include concentration of placer gold, ilmenite, rutile, zircon, monazite, chromite, tungsten (wolframite/scheelite), tin (cassiterite), tantalum-niobium ore, and iron ore fines.
🔹 Working Principle
Ore pulp (25–55% solids by weight) is fed evenly to the top of the spiral trough via a distributor. As the slurry flows downward along the helical channel, mineral particles stratify under the combined forces of:

Gravity (pulling particles downward)
Centrifugal force from the curved flow path
Frictional resistance of the trough surface
Transverse circulating flow across the trough cross-section
→ High-density (heavy) minerals sink to the bottom of the laminar flow and migrate toward the inner edge of the spiral, discharging as concentrate.
→ Low-density (light) gangue minerals remain in the upper faster-flowing layer and are carried to the outer edge, discharging as tailings.
→ An intermediate fraction (middlings) can also be collected via adjustable splitters.
The result is a clean 3-product split — Concentrate / Middlings / Tailings — in a single pass with no reagents.
