I. Working Mechanism and Performance Characteristics
- Mechanism of Improving Fatigue Resistance: Vanadium (V) forms fine and dispersed carbonitrides in steel, which can effectively pin grain boundaries after quenching + tempering and inhibit the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks. At the same time, the addition of vanadium increases the stability of supercooled austenite in steel and improves the hardenability. The core of large-section parts can also obtain a uniform sorbite structure.
- High Toughness Matching: Through optimizing the quenching and tempering process (quenching temperature 860-880℃, tempering temperature 560-650℃), mechanical properties with a tensile strength of 980-1180MPa, a yield strength of ≥835MPa, and an impact energy (KV₂) of ≥63J can be obtained. It still maintains good toughness at low temperatures (-20℃), meeting the needs of outdoor equipment in northern winter.
- Cutting and Hot Working Performance: The hardness of this steel is moderate in the annealed state (HB 220-280), and the machining efficiency of turning, drilling, etc. is high; preheating (300-400℃) is required during forging and welding, and slow cooling after welding is necessary to avoid the generation of hydrogen-induced cracks.
