rotary kiln for mineral powder calcination 300 tpd

1. Product Introduction

A Mineral Powder Rotary Kiln is a heavy-duty industrial thermal processing equipment designed to heat fine mineral powders to high temperatures in a continuous process. Common applications include the calcination of minerals such as limestone, bauxite, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, magnesium oxide, iron ore, and various clays.

A 300 TPD capacity represents a highly efficient, medium-to-large-scale production line. It is engineered to handle the specific challenges of processing powdered materials—which have a tendency to create high dust loads and require precise airflow management—turning raw industrial minerals into high-purity, chemically altered final products.

2. Working Principle

The system utilizes a counter-current heat transfer method, where the mineral powder moves in the opposite direction of the high-temperature airflow.

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Feeding & Preheating: Raw mineral powder is continuously introduced into the kiln tail (the higher end). Before entering the kiln, the powder often passes through a vertical preheater where it absorbs heat from the exhaust gas, jumping in temperature and saving fuel.

  2. Dynamic Rotation: The kiln cylinder is installed at a slight incline (typically 3.5% to 4%) and rotates slowly via a variable frequency motor. As the cylinder turns, the powder climbs the walls and rolls back down, creating a continuous "shoveling" effect that moves it gradually toward the lower end.

  3. Calcination Zone: A burner at the kiln head (the lower end) injects a flame (fueled by natural gas, pulverized coal, or oil) into the cylinder. As the powder rolls into this high-heat zone, it undergoes required chemical reactions (such as desulfurization, decarbonization, or phase transformation).

  4. Cooling & Discharge: The hot calcined powder drops out of the kiln head into a vertical or rotary cooler, which rapidly drops its temperature for safe packaging/conveying while redirecting the hot ambient air back into the kiln as combustion air.

3. Industrial Line Advantages

⚙️ Specialized for Fine Powders

  • Anti-Ring and Anti-Caking Technology: Fine powders easily stick to kiln walls at high temperatures, forming "kiln rings." Modern 300 TPD kilns utilize advanced internal lifters and optimized temperature controls to prevent material sticking and ensure smooth operation.

  • Low Material Loss: Optimized internal aerodynamics reduce the speed of the exhaust gas, minimizing the amount of fine mineral powder blown out into the dust collection system.

🌟 High Product Uniformity & Quality

  • Consistent Heat Transfer: Because the powder is constantly tumbling, every single grain is exposed uniformly to the heat source. This results in an exceptionally uniform product with highly controllable decomposition rates.

🍃 High Efficiency & Energy Savings

  • Advanced Heat Recovery: At 300 TPD, the scale justifies integrating a highly efficient preheater and cooler system. This setup recycles waste heat, significantly lowering the overall thermal energy consumption per ton of product.

  • Environmental Compliance: The system comes equipped with top-tier dust management (typically heavy-duty pulse bag filters or electrostatic precipitators) to capture escaping powder, achieving near-zero dust emissions.

🤖 Intelligent & Flexible Operation

  • PLC Automation: Features fully automated controls for kiln speed, internal pressure, fuel feeding, and multi-point temperature tracking.

  • Multi-Fuel Capability: The burner system can easily be adjusted or swapped to burn natural gas, heavy oil, or pulverized coal depending on local fuel prices.
