Color Coated Steel Coil Product Specification
1. Product Overview
Color Coated Steel Coil, commonly known as PPGI & PPGL, is manufactured based on hot-dip galvanized steel (GI) or galvalume steel (GL) and Zn-Al-Mg coated substrate. The base strip goes through continuous degreasing, chemical passivation pretreatment, roller coating of primer & topcoat, and high-temperature baking & curing. It integrates mechanical strength of steel, anti-corrosion performance of metallic coating and decorative & weather-resistant properties of organic paint. The finished coils can be directly bent, roll-formed or cut for further deep processing, serving as core raw material for steel structure enclosure, home appliances and light industry.
Applicable Standards: GB/T 12754-2019 (China), ASTM A755 (USA), EN10169 (Europe).Delivery Lead Time: 5-7 working days, shipped from Tianjin Port. Payment term: 30% TT advance payment + 70% balance before shipment.
2. Base Material Classification & Grades
2.1 Hot-dip Galvanized Substrate (PPGI: DX51D+Z, DX52D+Z, S350GD, S550GD)
Zinc coating weight ranges from 60g/㎡ to 275g/㎡, regular options: 80g/㎡,100g/㎡,120g/㎡. Cost-effective option for inland dry workshops and ordinary warehouse construction; zinc layer isolates moisture to prevent rust.
2.2 Galvalume Substrate (PPGL: DX51D+AZ, S350GD+AZ)
Coating composition: 55%Al + 43.4%Zn +1.6%Si. Its salt spray resistance is 2~5 times higher than ordinary galvanized steel, with excellent high-temperature resistance and UV resistance. Ideal for coastal areas and high-corrosion chemical industrial parks; standard AZ coating:100g/㎡,150g/㎡.
2.3 High-tensile Substrate (S350GD, S550GD)
High yield strength for long-span roofing, container panels and load-bearing roof tiles, anti-deformation and strong wind resistance.
Electro-galvanized substrate features thin coating (20~40g/㎡), only for indoor home appliance casings, not suitable for outdoor application.

Coating Structure Definition
2/2: Double coating & double baking on both sides, premium choice for coastal & high-end construction projects
2/1: Double topcoat on front, single primer on back, mainstream grade for common factory buildings
2/1M: Economical grade with one-time curing, mainly for indoor usage
4. Four Main Topcoat Types Classified by Weather Resistance
4.1 PE Polyester Coating
Service life:5~8 years without chalking for inland use. Good paint adhesion, abundant color options and competitive cost.Application: inland factory roofing, warehouse wall cladding, simple prefab houses and fences.
4.2 SMP Silicon Modified Polyester Coating
Service life:8~12 years. Superior heat resistance and anti-UV performance over regular PE coating.Application: high-temperature workshop roofing and buildings under strong sunlight exposure.
4.3 HDP High Durability Polyester Coating
Service life:12~15 years, excellent anti-chalking & acid rain resistance, ideal for mild coastal & humid regions.Application: nearshore industrial plants, humid-area construction and municipal projects.
4.4 PVDF Polyvinylidene Fluoride Coating
Service life: over 20 years, top-tier resistance against acid, alkali and salt fog with self-cleaning property, outstanding anti-seawater corrosion.Application: coastal docks, chemical plants, high-end curtain wall and landmark construction & island projects.
Special Functional Coatings: Self-clean HPC coating, anti-bacterial coating, anti-static & heat-insulation color coating available.
5. Production Flow Chart
Uncoiling → Strip Degreasing & Oil Removal → Water Washing → Chemical Conversion Passivation (Phosphating / Chrome-free Passivation) → Primer Roller Coating & Oven Curing → Topcoat Roller Coating & Secondary High-temperature Curing → Air Cooling → Surface Inspection → Slitting / Recoiling → Packing & Warehousing
Continuous high-speed roller coating ensures uniform paint film without sagging, much better quality than post-spray finished sheets.

Home Appliance: Refrigerator side panel, air conditioner casing, washing machine shell and small household appliance sheet metal (thin galvalume / electro-galvanized substrate).
Light Industry & Hardware: Ventilation duct, filing cabinet, electric distribution box and kitchen appliance housing.
Transportation: Truck carriage plate, container side panel and RV outer shell.
Municipal & Advertisement: Billboard base plate, road sign and bus station enclosure panel.
8. Packing, Storage & Delivery Inspection
8.1 Export Standard Packing
Inner layer: waterproof plastic film; middle layer: kraft paper; outer layer: steel edge protector & iron ring at coil ends to avoid collision & dampness during ocean shipment. Each coil marked with specification, steel grade, net weight, batch number and production date.
8.2 Storage & Transportation
Store in dry & ventilated warehouse away from rain & ponding; use soft sling for hoisting, avoid steel wire rope scratching paint surface; control stacking height to prevent coating damage under heavy compression.
8.3 Factory Inspection & Test Report
Mill Test Certificate (MTC) supplied with each shipment. Test items include coating adhesion, salt spray test, paint thickness, yield strength, zinc coating weight and bending performance; goods can only be delivered after passing full inspection.
