Detailed Description of Checkered Plate Products
Checkered plate (also known as anti-slip plate or embossed plate) is a type of sheet metal with regular raised patterns formed on the surface of a carbon steel base plate through hot rolling or stamping. Its core advantages are anti-slip and wear-resistant, strong load-bearing capacity, easy drainage, and a combination of corrosion resistance and decorativeness, which is widely used in industrial, construction, transportation, marine and other fields.
I. Core Definition and Implementation Standards
Definition: A metal plate with anti-slip patterns such as diamond, lentil, and round bean shapes on the surface. The base plate is ordinary carbon steel, and the height of the raised patterns is not included in the thickness of the base plate.
Implementation Standard: National Standard GB/T 3277-2015 (replacing GB 3277-1982), covering hot-rolled checkered steel plates of carbon structural steel, hull structural steel, and high weathering steel.
English Name: Diamond Plate / Checkered Plate.

IV. Material and Mechanical Properties
1. Carbon Steel (Most Commonly Used, Cost-Effective)
Q235B: Yield strength ≥235MPa, tensile strength 370–500MPa, used for regular anti-slip, stairs, and platforms.
Q355B: Yield strength ≥355MPa, tensile strength 470–630MPa, used for heavy loads, bridges, and mining machinery.
Hull Steel/Weathering Steel: A36, Q295NH, used for ship decks and outdoor structures, with atmospheric corrosion resistance.
2. Surface Treatment
Hot-Rolled Black Surface: Original surface, low cost, requires painting for rust prevention (indoor/dry environment).
Hot-Dip Galvanizing (Z275): Zinc layer ≥275g/㎡, strong rust prevention, used for outdoor and humid environments (service life 10–15 years).
Electro-Galvanizing/Painting: For thin plate decoration, beautiful and rust-proof for indoor use.
V. Core Functional Features
Super Anti-Slip: The raised patterns increase friction, with an anti-slip coefficient of ≥0.6 in dry conditions and ≥0.4 in wet conditions, preventing personnel from slipping and equipment from shifting.
Load-Bearing and Wear-Resistant: The base plate has stable mechanical properties, Q355B can bear 2–5MPa, with compression resistance, impact resistance, and wear resistance.
Easy Drainage and Cleaning: The gaps between the patterns allow natural drainage, reducing water and dust accumulation, and oil stains are easy to rinse, with low maintenance costs.
Corrosion-Resistant and Long-Lasting: The galvanized version is rust-proof and corrosion-resistant, usable outdoors for more than 10 years, with a service life 3 times longer than that of ceramic tiles.
Economical and Energy-Saving: Saves 15–20% of materials compared to flat plates under the same strength, reducing costs.
Strong Decorativeness: The three-dimensional patterns are beautiful, and can be used for exterior walls, suspended ceilings, and industrial-style decoration.

VIII. Installation and Maintenance
1. Installation
Fixing: Welding, bolts, rivets or special buckles (recommended spacing 500mm).
Splicing: Leave a 2–3mm expansion joint to avoid deformation due to thermal expansion and contraction.
Bending: The minimum bending radius is ≥2 times the plate thickness to prevent pattern cracking (lentil shape is better than diamond shape).
2. Maintenance
Carbon Steel: Regularly paint anti-rust paint (once every 6–12 months).
Galvanized: Rinse with clean water, avoiding long-term immersion in strong acids and alkalis.
