Detailed Specification of Alloy Steel Pipe
1. Product Introduction
Alloy steel pipe is manufactured by adding chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), vanadium (V) and other alloy elements into carbon steel base material, with total alloy content generally over 5%. As upgraded products of ordinary carbon steel pipes, they feature high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and excellent creep resistance, widely used under high pressure, high temperature and corrosive working conditions.
2. Main Materials & Chemical Composition
Common Steel Grades (GB & ASTM Standard)
15CrMoG / 12Cr1MoVG: Main material for high-pressure boilers, equivalent to ASTM P11/P12, suitable for 500-600℃ high temperature and high pressure service.
12Cr9Mo / P9: Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel with about 9% Cr and 1% Mo, maintaining stable high strength at 600℃ with outstanding creep resistance.
1Cr5Mo: Special steel for petroleum cracking, good resistance to hydrogen sulfide corrosion, applicable to 400-550℃ corrosive environment.
20G/20MnG: High-quality carbon steel, widely used for medium and low pressure boilers, maximum working temperature ≤450℃.

Domestic Standards
GB/T 8162-2008: Seamless steel pipes for structural purposes, used for mechanical manufacturing and engineering structures.
GB/T 8163-2018: Seamless steel pipes for fluid transportation, suitable for water, oil, gas delivery, required hydraulic pressure test.
GB 5310-2023: Seamless steel pipes for high-pressure boilers, applied in working conditions above 9.8MPa and 450-650℃.
GB 6479-2013: Seamless steel pipes for high-pressure chemical fertilizer equipment, resistant to acid and alkali corrosion.
GB 9948-2013: Seamless steel pipes for petroleum cracking, used for heating furnace and high-temperature pipeline in refineries.
International Standards
ASTM A335/ASME SA335: Seamless ferritic alloy steel pipes for high temperature service, including P11, P12, P9 series.
ASTM A213/ASME SA213: Seamless alloy steel pipes for boilers, superheaters and heat exchangers.

4. Production Process
Hot Rolling & Hot Extruding: Heat steel billet to about 1200℃, process by piercing mill and reducing mill, fit for large diameter and heavy wall pipes with high production efficiency.
Cold Rolling & Cold Drawing: Process hot rolled pipes via pickling and lubrication, high dimensional accuracy up to ±0.15mm, smooth inner and outer surface, ideal for small diameter and thin wall precision pipes.
Heat Treatment: Adopt normalizing and tempering process to eliminate internal stress, refine grain and stabilize metal structure to meet mechanical property requirements.

8. Quality Inspection & Acceptance
Material composition test by spectrum analysis.
Mechanical property test including tension, impact and hardness test.
Non-destructive testing: Ultrasonic testing, eddy current testing and hydraulic pressure tightness test.
Visual inspection: No cracks, scars, folds and serious oxide scale on pipe surface.
9. Packaging & Transportation
Small diameter pipes bundled with plastic pipe caps at both ends; large diameter pipes packed singly with anti-rust wrapping film to avoid rust and collision damage.
Store in dry and ventilated warehouse, keep away from dampness and rain. Fix firmly during transportation to prevent deformation.
