Boiler Plate Product Detailed Description
Boiler Plate is a special medium and heavy steel plate used to manufacture key pressure-bearing components such as boiler drums, pressure vessels, and superheater tube sheets. It can operate safely for a long time under high temperature, high pressure and alternating loads. It features high-temperature strength, good creep resistance, excellent toughness and stable weldability.
1. Execution Standards
National Standard: GB 713-2014 (Steel Plates for Boilers and Pressure Vessels, replacing the old version GB 713-2008).
International Standards: American Standard SA-515/SA-516, European Standard EN 10028, Japanese Standard SB410, etc.
2. Material Grade & Common Grades
Boiler plates are divided into carbon steel and low-alloy heat-resistant steel by composition. The mainstream national standard grades are as follows:

Width: 1500-4000mm; Length: 6000-12000mm, customized fixed length available.
Dimensional Deviation: Comply with GB/T 709; thickness tolerance executed as Class B or Class C; surface quality reaches National Standard Grade Ⅰ/Ⅱ.
4. Core Mechanical Properties (Typical Room Temperature Values)
Yield Strength (ReH): Q245R≥245MPa, Q345R≥345MPa, 15CrMoR≥295MPa.
Tensile Strength (Rm): 400-650MPa (varies with material grade).
Impact Toughness (KV₂, -20℃): ≥47J for carbon steel; ≥71J for low alloy steel, excellent anti-low-temperature brittle fracture performance.
High Temperature Performance: Maintain stable creep strength at 450-550℃ without obvious aging embrittlement during long-term service.
5. Production Process
Smelting: Pure molten steel (S≤0.015%, P≤0.025%) to reduce impurities and improve toughness.
Rolling: Hot rolling / Thermo-Mechanical Control Process (TMCP) to refine grain structure and ensure uniform thickness and good surface quality.
Heat Treatment: Normalizing (mainstream), Normalizing + Tempering, Quenching and Tempering to eliminate internal stress and stabilize structure and performance.
Flaw Detection: 100% Ultrasonic Testing (UT), complying with JB/T 4730.3, qualified as Grade Ⅰ/Ⅱ, ensuring no internal cracks or inclusions.
6. Core Characteristics
High Temperature & High Pressure Stability: Withstand pressure of 10-16MPa and high temperature of 350-550℃ for long term, good creep resistance and fatigue resistance.
High Safety & Reliability: High toughness, low aging sensitivity, no cracking after cold working (plate rolling, stamping) and welding.
Excellent Process Adaptability: Good performance in shearing, bending and welding, suitable for boiler drum rolling, tube sheet drilling and other processing.
Good Corrosion Resistance: Fine resistance to water vapor and flue gas corrosion, extending the service life of boilers.
7. Application Scope
Power Boilers: Thermal power / supercritical boiler drums, headers, superheater tube sheets, support plates of main steam pipelines.
Industrial Boilers: Medium and low pressure boiler bodies, steam drums and heads for chemical, textile and food industries.
Pressure Vessels: Petroleum, chemical industry, hydrogenation reactors, heat exchangers, storage tanks and other pressure-bearing equipment.
Others: Power station boiler steel structure, waste heat boiler pressure parts, nuclear power auxiliary pressure equipment.
8. Delivery Condition & Packaging
Delivery Condition: Normalizing (mainstream), Normalizing + Tempering, Controlled Rolling; supplied with material certificate and flaw detection report.
Packaging: Four sides cut neatly, surface derusted and coated with anti-rust paint, firmly bundled; marked with grade, specification, heat number and standard number.
9. Quality Control Key Points
Chemical Composition: Precisely control elements such as C, Mn, Cr, Mo; strictly limit S and P impurities to the lower standard.
Mechanical Test: Batch by batch tensile, impact and bending tests to ensure qualified performance.
Surface Inspection: Free from cracks, scabs, folds, excessive oxide scale and other defects.
Dimensional Accuracy: Thickness, width and length deviation comply with national standards; diagonal error ≤3mm.
