Color Coated Coil Detailed Product Description

Color Coated Coil, full name Color Coated Steel Coil, is made of cold-rolled steel sheet, hot-dip galvanized or hot-dip aluminum-zinc steel sheet as the base substrate. It undergoes degreasing, cleaning and chemical conversion treatment, then is continuously roller-coated with organic paint and baked and cured to form a metal composite material. It features light weight, high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, elegant appearance and easy processing, widely used in steel structure, decoration and home appliance industries.

1. Core Structure (Five-layer Composite)

From inside to outside: Base Substrate → Metal Coating → Chemical Conversion Layer → Primer → Topcoat (Backcoat included)

  1. Base Substrate

  • Cold-Rolled Steel (CR): High strength and smooth surface; suitable for indoor and low-corrosion environments with cost advantages.

  • Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel (GI): Zinc coating 80–275g/m² on double sides; isolated air for anti-corrosion with high cost performance, applicable to ordinary industrial and civil buildings in inland areas.

  • Hot-Dip Aluminum-Zinc Steel (GL, 55%Al+43.4%Zn+1.6%Si): Corrosion resistance is 2–3 times that of galvanized steel; superior salt spray resistance, ideal for coastal and chemical high-corrosion areas; conventional aluminum-zinc coating 100–150g/m².

  • Zinc-Aluminum-Magnesium Steel (ZAM): Contains magnesium element with self-repairing performance; excellent incision anti-corrosion property for harsh corrosive conditions.

  1. Chemical Conversion LayerActs as an adhesive bridge between substrate and coating; improves coating adhesion and corrosion resistance, thickness about 1–3μm.

  2. Paint Coating System

  • Primer: Epoxy or polyurethane primer, thickness 5–7μm, enhances adhesion and anti-corrosion performance.

  • Topcoat: Core functional layer determining weather resistance, corrosion resistance and appearance.

  • Backcoat: Polyester or epoxy paint, thickness 5–15μm, for backside anti-corrosion and scratch prevention.

  • Thickness: 0.13–4.0mm (Common: 0.3–1.5mm, tolerance ±0.02–0.05mm)

  • Width: 750–1250mm (Standard size: 1000/1200/1250mm)

  • Coil Inner Diameter: φ508mm (20 inch) / φ610mm (24 inch)

  • Coil Weight: 3–10 tons (Slitting available as required)

  • Color: Customized per RAL color card; regular colors: Ocean Blue, Light Grey, Brick Red, Off-white, Ivory White; printed, matte and textured surface available.

  • Coating Thickness: Topcoat 20–35μm, Backcoat 5–15μm; PVDF ≥25μm, SMP 25–30μm, PE 20–25μm.

3. Production Process

Uncoiling → Degreasing → Water Washing → Chemical Passivation → Drying → Primer Coating → Baking → Topcoat Coating → Baking → Cooling → Film Laminating → Recoiling → Packaging

  1. Superior Corrosion Resistance: Double protection of organic coating and metal coating; service life over 50% longer than ordinary galvanized steel, stable use for 10–20 years in coastal and industrial areas.

  3. Coastal & Chemical High-corrosion Area: PVDF coating + Aluminum-zinc Substrate (AZ150), service life over 20 years, excellent salt spray and acid-alkali resistance.

  4. High Strength Requirement: G550 high-strength substrate, thickness ≥0.6mm, suitable for long-span roof and heavy-load wall projects.

  • Packaging: Waterproof plastic film + cardboard + steel band strapping, prevent surface scratch and moisture rust during transportation.
