1. Product Overview
Steel wire is a slender metal product processed from high-quality carbon structural steel, low-alloy high-strength steel and other raw materials through multiple processes such as drawing, annealing, pickling and phosphating. Its cross-section is mostly circular (special-shaped cross-section can also be customized), with the characteristics of high strength, high toughness, corrosion resistance and easy processing. As a basic metal product, steel wire has a wide range of uses, covering construction, machinery, hardware, electric power, communication, agriculture, transportation and many other fields. It can be directly used or processed into derived products such as steel wire rope, steel wire mesh, springs and fasteners, and is an indispensable core consumable in industrial production and civil life.
2. Product Classification
2.1 Classified by Production Process
Cold-Drawn Steel Wire: As the mainstream conventional product, it is processed by cold drawing process, with smooth surface, high dimensional accuracy, high strength and moderate toughness. It does not require high-temperature heating, with low energy consumption and high efficiency, suitable for mass production and widely used in conventional force-bearing scenarios. The commonly used material grades are Q195, Q235B and Q355B.
Annealed Steel Wire: After cold drawing, it is annealed to reduce hardness, improve toughness and plasticity. It is easy to bend, weld and process, with a grayish-white surface, mostly used in scenarios requiring secondary forming (such as weaving steel wire mesh and making springs). The commonly used material grades are Q195 and Q235B.
Galvanized Steel Wire: The surface of cold-drawn or annealed steel wire is hot-dip galvanized or cold galvanized, with excellent corrosion resistance, which can effectively resist the erosion of humid and harsh outdoor environments. It is divided into two types: hot-dip galvanizing (thick coating, strong corrosion resistance) and cold galvanizing (thin coating, neat appearance). The commonly used material grades are Q235B and Q355B.
Phosphated Steel Wire: The surface is phosphated to form a phosphating film, which can enhance wear resistance and rust resistance, and improve adhesion with rubber and coatings. It is mostly used in scenarios such as tire frameworks and hose frameworks. The commonly used material grades are Q235B and Q355B.
2.2 Classified by Material Grade
Q195: Ordinary carbon structural steel with moderate strength, good toughness, easy drawing and low cost. It is mostly used in ordinary woven mesh, binding steel wire, light-load supports and other scenarios with low strength requirements.
Q235B: Ordinary carbon structural steel with higher strength than Q195, excellent toughness and weldability, and a wide range of adaptation. It is currently the most used steel wire material in the market, mostly used in conventional scenarios such as construction, hardware and machinery.
Q355B: Low-alloy high-strength steel with high strength, strong tensile force and excellent wear resistance. It is suitable for heavy-load and high-strength force-bearing scenarios (such as steel wire for steel wire rope and engineering tension steel wire).
Special Materials: Weathering steel wire can be customized to adapt to harsh environments with strong corrosion such as coastal areas and chemical industry, meeting the needs of long-term outdoor use.
2.3 Classified by Application
Binding Steel Wire: Used in construction, warehousing, logistics and other fields to bind steel bars, goods, pipes, etc. It is mostly cold-drawn or annealed material with small diameter and good toughness.
Construction Steel Wire: Used for steel bar binding, scaffold fixing, prestressed tensioning, etc. in construction projects, with high strength and good stability. The commonly used materials are Q235B and Q355B.
Woven Steel Wire: Used for making steel wire mesh, filter mesh, guardrail mesh, etc. It is mostly annealed or galvanized material, easy to weave, corrosion-resistant and uniform in size.
Mechanical Steel Wire: Used for making springs, fasteners, mechanical parts, etc., requiring high toughness and precision, mostly annealed or cold-drawn material.
Anti-Corrosion Steel Wire: Used in outdoor, humid and corrosive environments, such as municipal guardrails, coastal projects and chemical equipment supporting. It is mostly galvanized or phosphated material.
3. Specification Parameters
3.1 Specification Marking
Expressed by "diameter" (Unit: mm), for example: Φ1.0mm, Φ2.0mm, Φ4.0mm; the conventional diameter range is 0.1mm-20mm, and special diameters can be customized. The cross-section is circular by default, and square and special-shaped cross-sections can be customized.
2. Common Specifications
Fine Steel Wire: Diameter 0.1mm-1.0mm, mostly used in woven mesh, precision accessories and electronic components. The commonly used materials are Q195 and Q235B.
Medium-Coarse Steel Wire: Diameter 1.0mm-6.0mm, with the widest use, suitable for binding, construction, hardware, weaving, etc. The commonly used materials are Q235B and Q355B.
Coarse Steel Wire: Diameter 6.0mm-20mm, used in heavy-load and high-strength scenarios, such as steel wire rope, engineering tensioning and mechanical supports. The commonly used material is Q355B.
3. Standard Length
Divided by packaging form: coil packaging (each coil weighs 20kg-500kg, and the length varies according to the diameter, the thinner the diameter, the longer the length), straight bar packaging (standard length 6m, 9m, 12m, fixed-length cutting can be customized); zero cutting and fixed-length processing are supported to meet the needs of different customers.

Cold-Drawn Steel Wire: GB/T 343-2015; Annealed Steel Wire: GB/T 14981-2004; Galvanized Steel Wire: GB/T 3089-2017; The product's dimensional tolerance, mechanical properties, surface quality and chemical composition all meet national testing standards, with stable and controllable quality.

5. Mechanical Properties
Q195: Yield Strength ≥ 195MPa, Tensile Strength 315–430MPa, Elongation ≥ 33%, good toughness and easy drawing, suitable for light-load and easy-processing scenarios.
Q235B: Yield Strength ≥ 235MPa, Tensile Strength 370–500MPa, Elongation ≥ 26%, moderate strength, excellent toughness and weldability, suitable for various conventional scenarios.
Q355B: Yield Strength ≥ 355MPa, Tensile Strength 470–630MPa, Elongation ≥ 21%, high strength, high wear resistance and strong tensile force, suitable for heavy-load and high-strength force-bearing scenarios.
Galvanized/Phosphated Steel Wire: The mechanical properties are consistent with the base material, and it additionally has excellent corrosion resistance, with uniform surface coating, strong adhesion and not easy to fall off.

8. Surface Treatment and Custom Services
Regular Factory Status: Cold-drawn steel wire has a smooth original surface; annealed steel wire has a grayish-white matte surface; galvanized steel wire has a silver-gray (hot-dip galvanizing) or bright white (cold galvanizing) surface; phosphated steel wire has a gray-black phosphating film surface.
Customizable Processing: Hot-dip galvanizing, cold galvanizing, phosphating, annealing, fixed-length cutting, coil/straight bar packaging customization, special-shaped cross-section customization, and the strength, toughness and other performance parameters of steel wire can be adjusted according to customer needs.
9. Packaging and Delivery
Packaging: Coiled steel wire is wrapped with waterproof paper and plastic film, and the outer layer is bundled and fixed with steel strips to prevent moisture and wear; straight bar steel wire is bundled with steel strips, each bundle is 2–5 tons, and specifications, materials, batches, furnace numbers and other information are marked on the ends, neatly stacked.
Delivery: The delivery cycle for conventional stock specifications is 5–7 days; the delivery cycle for customized sizes, special surface treatments (such as galvanizing, phosphating) and special-shaped steel wires shall be negotiated separately, and delivery can be arranged according to the customer's logistics needs to ensure timely delivery of goods.
