1. Product Overview

Flat steel is a long strip steel with a rectangular cross-section, featuring uniform thickness and flat surface. It is mainly divided into two categories: hot-rolled flat steel and cold-rolled flat steel, and is a highly versatile basic steel. Its materials are mainly carbon structural steel and low-alloy high-strength steel, which have the characteristics of convenient processing, stable mechanical properties and high cost performance. It is widely used in construction, municipal engineering, electromechanical, hardware, warehousing and many other fields. It can be used as components, supports, connectors, grounding materials, etc., and is an indispensable basic profile in industrial and civil engineering.

2. Product Classification

2.1 Classified by Production Process

  • Hot-Rolled Flat Steel: As the mainstream conventional product, it is rolled at high temperature by steel mills, with a hot-rolled original surface, standard size, uniform material, good toughness and easy welding. It has moderate cost, suitable for mass purchase and conventional engineering use, and is currently the most used type of flat steel in the market. The commonly used material grades are Q235B and Q355B, and weathering steel grades can be customized for special scenarios.

  • Cold-Rolled Flat Steel: Processed by cold rolling, it has high dimensional accuracy, smooth and flat surface, small thickness deviation and better mechanical properties. It is mostly used in precision machinery, light components, hardware accessories, decoration industry and other scenarios that require high dimensional and surface quality. The commonly used material grades are Q235B and Q355B.

2.2 Classified by Material Grade

  • Q235B: Ordinary carbon structural steel, with good toughness, easy processing, excellent weldability and low cost. It is suitable for ordinary building supports, grounding flat steel, hardware accessories, general mechanical components, etc.

  • Q355B: Low-alloy high-strength steel, with high strength, strong load-bearing capacity and better corrosion resistance than Q235B. It is suitable for heavy-load supports, large outdoor steel structures, bridge auxiliary components, machinery manufacturing and other scenarios that require high strength.

  • Special Materials: Weathering steel flat steel can be customized to adapt to harsh environments with high humidity and strong corrosion (such as chemical industry, coastal areas, outdoor long-term use scenarios).

2.3 Classified by Application

  • Ordinary Flat Steel: Used for conventional supports, components and hardware processing, with complete specifications and sufficient stock. The commonly used material grades are Q235B and Q355B, and special materials can be customized on demand.

  • Grounding Flat Steel: Specifically used for power and building grounding systems, mostly hot-rolled material, which can be customized with anti-corrosion treatment and has excellent electrical conductivity. The core material grades are Q235B (conventional) and Q355B (for heavy-load grounding scenarios).

  • Decorative Flat Steel: Mainly cold-rolled, with a smooth surface, which can be painted and polished. It is used for building decoration, furniture accessories, etc. The commonly used material grades are Q235B and Q355B.

3. Specification Parameters

3.1 Specification Marking

Expressed as "Width × Thickness" (Unit: mm), for example: 50×5mm, 80×6mm, 100×8mm; special specifications can be customized, with thickness up to 50mm and width up to 300mm.

3.2 Common Specifications

  • Hot-Rolled Flat Steel: Width 20-300mm, thickness 3-50mm. Conventional specifications (such as 20×3, 30×4, 50×5, 80×6, 100×8) are in sufficient stock. The supporting material grades are Q235B and Q355B, and special material grades such as weathering steel can be customized.

  • Cold-Rolled Flat Steel: Width 10-150mm, thickness 1-10mm, high precision, suitable for precision processing. The commonly used material grades are Q235B and Q355B.

3.3 Standard Length

Standard fixed length: 6m, 9m, 12m; fixed-length cutting and zero-cutting processing are supported, and any length can be customized according to customer needs (minimum order quantity needs to be negotiated).

3.4 Executive Standards

Hot-Rolled Flat Steel: GB/T 704-2018; Cold-Rolled Flat Steel: GB/T 708-2019; The product's dimensional tolerance, deflection, material composition and mechanical properties all meet national testing standards, with stable and controllable quality.

5. Mechanical Properties

  • Q235B: Yield Strength ≥ 235MPa, Tensile Strength 370–500MPa, Elongation ≥ 26%, with good plasticity and weldability, not easy to break, suitable for conventional force-bearing scenarios.

  • Q355B: Yield Strength ≥ 355MPa, Tensile Strength 470–630MPa, Elongation ≥ 21%, with stronger low-temperature toughness, impact resistance and structural stability, suitable for heavy-load and harsh outdoor environments.

9. Packaging and Delivery

  • Packaging: Packed in bundles with steel strips, each bundle is 2–5 tons, neatly stacked. Specifications, materials, furnace number, batch and other information are marked on the ends, and the surface is well protected to avoid wear and deformation during transportation.

  • Delivery: The delivery cycle for conventional stock specifications is 5–7 days; the delivery cycle for customized sizes, galvanized and special processed products shall be negotiated separately, and delivery can be arranged according to the customer's logistics needs.
