I. Product Overview
Steel strand is a spiral metal product made of multiple high-strength carbon steel wires (commonly 82B high-carbon steel) through cold drawing, stranding, and stabilization treatment. It features ultra-high strength, excellent toughness, low relaxation, and fatigue resistance, serving as the core load-bearing material for prestressed concrete, electric power, and geotechnical engineering.
II. Material & Standards
Material: High-quality high-carbon steel wire rod (82B) with a carbon content of 0.80%-0.85%, drawn into high-strength steel wires through cold drawing.
Implementation Standards: National Standard GB/T 5224, American Standard ASTM A416, British Standard BS 5896.
Surface Treatment: Bright (uncoated), galvanized, epoxy coated, unbonded (grease + PE sheath).

1. Common Structures
1×7 Structure (mainstream): 1 central wire + 6 outer wires, most widely used.
1×2, 1×3 Structures: Used for small components and stay wires.
1×19 Structure: Better flexibility, used for large-span and complex working conditions.

Nominal Diameter 9.53mm: Structure is 1×7, strength grade 1860/1960MPa, theoretical weight 432kg/km, breaking force 80kN, suitable for small components and floor slabs;
Nominal Diameter 12.7mm: Structure is 1×7, strength grade 1860/1960MPa, theoretical weight 775kg/km, breaking force 145kN, suitable for overpasses and hollow slab beams;
Nominal Diameter 15.24mm: Structure is 1×7, strength grade 1860/1960MPa, theoretical weight 1102kg/km, breaking force 260kN, suitable for bridges, high-rise buildings and sleepers;
Nominal Diameter 17.8mm: Structure is 1×7, strength grade 1860MPa, theoretical weight 1500kg/km, breaking force 355kN, suitable for large box girders and geotechnical anchoring;
Nominal Diameter 21.6mm: Structure is 1×7, strength grade 1860MPa, theoretical weight 2230kg/km, breaking force 532kN, suitable for long-span bridges and stay cables.
IV. Performance Parameters
Tensile Strength: 1860MPa (standard), 1960MPa (high strength), 2160MPa (ultra-high strength).
Relaxation Grade: Low Relaxation (LC) (mainstream, 1000h relaxation rate ≤2.5%), ordinary relaxation (Grade Ⅰ).
Elongation: Total elongation at maximum force ≥3.5%.
Elastic Modulus: (1.95±0.10)×10⁵ MPa.
Yield Strength: ≥0.85×standard value of tensile strength.
V. Product Types
Prestressed Strand: Bright/indented, used for pre-tensioned/post-tensioned prestressed concrete, core material for bridges, buildings and sleepers.
Galvanized Strand: Hot-dip galvanized surface, strong corrosion resistance, used for electric power ground wires, telephone pole stay wires and coastal projects.
Unbonded Strand: Coated with anti-corrosion grease + HDPE sheath, no grouting required, used for slopes, foundation pits and post-tensioned unbonded structures.
Epoxy Coated Strand: Fully enclosed epoxy coating, super strong corrosion resistance, used for chemical industry, cross-sea bridges and high-corrosion environments.
Aluminum-clad Strand: Stranded aluminum-clad steel wires, conductive and high-strength, used for transmission lines and ground wires.
VI. Production Process
High-carbon steel wire rod → Surface treatment → Cold drawing → Single wire inspection → Stranding → Stabilization heat treatment → Surface coating (optional) → Finished product inspection → Shaftless/spool packaging.

Delivery Time: Conventional stock 5-7 days, special specifications 10-15 days.
X. Selection Tips
Select diameter and strength according to engineering load (priority to 1860MPa low relaxation).
Select galvanized/epoxy/unbonded type for corrosive environment.
Confirm compliance with national/American standards, and provide quality guarantee certificate and mechanical performance report.
Match the corresponding anchor and fixture models.
