Channel Steel Product Description
I. Product Overview
Channel Steel is a long strip hot-rolled/cold-formed section steel with a groove-shaped cross-section. It belongs to the category of carbon structural steel and low-alloy structural steel, with excellent bending resistance, torsion resistance and welding performance. It is widely used in construction, machinery, vehicles, steel structures and other fields. Execution standard: GB/T 706-2016 (Hot-rolled Section Steel).
II. Product Classification
1. By Production Process
Hot-Rolled Channel Steel: Formed by hot rolling at high temperature, with specifications ranging from 5# to 40# (web height 50–400mm). It has high strength and strong versatility, and is suitable for heavy-load structures.
Cold-Formed Light Channel Steel: Formed by cold bending at room temperature, with thin walls, light weight and high precision. Its specifications range from 5# to 30#, and it is used in light structures and decoration projects.
Cold-Formed Special-Shaped Channel Steel: Including equilateral/unequal side, inward curled edge/outer curled edge channel steel, which is suitable for special installation needs.
2. By Specification
Specification expression: Web height (h) × Leg width (b) × Web thickness (d) (mm), or "size number + a/b/c" (for the same web height, it increases with leg width/web thickness). For example, 10# channel steel corresponds to 100×48×5.3mm; the three models 25#a, 25#b and 25#c have sequentially increasing leg width and web thickness. In terms of length, the conventional lengths are 6m, 9m and 12m, and non-standard lengths can be customized according to needs.
III. Material & Mechanical Properties
1. Common Materials
Q235B: Yield strength ≥235MPa, tensile strength 375–460MPa, high cost performance, suitable for general construction, shelves, brackets and other scenarios.
Q355B (formerly Q345B): Yield strength ≥355MPa, tensile strength 470–630MPa, high strength, used in heavy-load machinery, vehicles, bridges and other heavy-load scenarios.
Q355D: Excellent low-temperature toughness, suitable for structural construction in cold regions.
2. Delivery Condition
Delivered in hot-rolled or normalized state to ensure that the product has good welding, riveting performance and comprehensive mechanical properties, meeting various installation and use needs.
