During the converter blowing process in steelmaking at steel mills, due to continuous oxygen blowing into the metal molten pool, when the blowing reaches the end point, there must be a certain amount of dissolved oxygen remaining in the molten steel. After the blowing is finished, if the oxygen is not removed to a certain degree, the casting cannot be carried out smoothly, and a billet with a reasonable structure cannot be obtained. Therefore, before tapping or during and after tapping, according to the requirements of the steel grade, a suitable deoxidizer and its addition amount should be selected and added to the molten steel to achieve the specified deoxidation degree. This operation is called deoxidation. At the same time of deoxidation, the content of silicon, aluminum, manganese and other alloying elements in the molten steel also reaches the specifications of the finished steel, achieving the purpose of alloying.
Metallic aluminum is a commonly used molten steel deoxidizer in steelmaking production. Some steel mills directly use 5 - 10 kg aluminum ingots to deoxidize the ladle. In actual production, due to the large size and slow melting of aluminum ingots, uneven deoxidation causes waste of raw materials and prolongs the refining time.
Adding circular aluminum cakes for deoxidation belongs to precipitation deoxidation. During precipitation deoxidation, the aluminum alloy is directly added to the molten steel to remove oxygen from the molten steel. This deoxidation method has a relatively high deoxidation efficiency, short time consumption and less alloy consumption.
Advantages of circular aluminum cake deoxidation:
1: The arc-shaped outer structure improves the sliding performance between deoxidizing blocks, facilitating the smooth feeding of the silo;
2: It melts quickly after being put into molten steel, and the molten steel is evenly deoxidized under force;
3: It is not easy to float up after sinking into the molten steel, which shortens the deoxidation reaction time and increases the yield of metallic aluminum.
