JA-3 series shear relief valve is composed of piston assembly, valve body, joint, shear pin plate and shield. When the mud pressure acts on the lower end surface of the valve body, the valve body receives an upward thrust, which is transmitted to the shear pin plate by the valve stem, so that the shear pins in the shear pin plate holes are sheared. When the thrust reaches the shear stress on the shear pin greater than the shear strength limit of the material of the shear pin, the shear pin is sheared. Through the different positions of the shear pins, the ultimate pressure values of different cylinder liners of the mud pump can be controlled.

JA-3 type of shear relief valve is applicable to high-pressure spray rig which is widely generalized now and also used for the high-pressure cyclic systems of other media (such as oil and water).

Compared with spring and membrane valves, the valve has following features:

3． Simple reset;

4． Good generality available for connection with various pumps.

Purpose of JA-3 shear type safety valve (flanged)

Cutting off safety valve could be insure the mud pump not to exceed the rated working pressure range.

Shear pin safety valve can be connected in two ways, one is threaded connection, and the second is flange connection. It is an insurance of mud pump,  before the pump working, according to the cylinder and piston specification determines the rated pressure, the safety valve cover off the shear pin on the clipboard into the pin hole. If the pump head pressure exceeds the rated pressure, shear pin will be cut and mud from the side of the vent valve, play a protective role.
