Liquid silicone rubber is usually divided into Component A (base rubber) and Component B (curing agent), which need to be mixed in proportion to cure. The specific steps are as follows:

Material preparation

Select the appropriate liquid silicone rubber: For handmade soap molds, it is recommended to use addition-cured liquid silicone rubber (high-temperature resistant, odorless, good elasticity, suitable for contact with soap bases), and avoid using condensation type (which may release odors and affect the soap body).

Tools: Electronic scale (accuracy 0.1g), mixing cup (plastic or glass), mixing rod (silicone or plastic, avoid metal contamination), disposable gloves.

Weighing and mixing

Weigh components A and B according to the proportion specified in the manual (common ratios are 10:1 or 5:1. It is necessary to strictly follow the weight ratio. Proportion errors may lead to incomplete curing or abnormal hardness).

Pour Component A into the mixing cup, then add Component B. Use a stirring rod to stir clockwise along the cup wall (avoid vigorous stirring to prevent air bubbles). Stir for 3 to 5 minutes to ensure that the two components are completely mixed (the cup wall and bottom need to be stirred evenly without any white unmixed marks).

Defoaming treatment

The mixed silicone rubber may contain bubbles and defoaming is required.

Natural defoaming: Let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes, and the small bubbles will rise and burst by themselves (suitable for silicone rubber with good fluidity).

Vacuum defoaming: If there is a vacuum machine, put the mixed rubber into the vacuum machine and evacuate to -0.1 MPa. Wait for all the bubbles to be completely expelled (about 1-2 minutes), and avoid evacuating for too long to prevent the silicone rubber from overflowing.
