IC697ADC701 is an alphanumeric display coprocessor module of the 90-70 series produced by GE Fanuc, mainly used to enhance the processing capability of the 90-70 series PLC CPU. The specific introduction is as follows:


Basic Parameters:
  • Operating Temperature: -25℃ to +70℃.

  • Power Requirement: Draws current from the 5V bus, with a current demand of 1.0A.

  • Serial Ports: Equipped with RS-232 and RS-422/RS-485 ports.

  • Battery-related: The battery has a shelf life of 10 years at 20℃, and the nominal memory retention time without power supply is 6 months.


Structural Design:
It is a single-slot module with dimensions approximately 83×36×96mm, facilitating installation in the slot of the PLC backplane. The front panel is equipped with three status LEDs, which can be used to display the working status of the module.

Functional Features:
  • Display and Alarm Function: It can perform display, reporting, and alarm functions of the alphanumeric display system through operator interface terminals, such as GE Fanuc Operator Interface Terminals (OIT) or Mini OIT, etc., and can present PLC alarms and other important information to operators.

  • Programming Configuration: Supports soft configuration, which can be configured through programming software based on MS-DOS or Windows, without the need for DIP switches or jumpers.

IC697ADC701—05Working Principle:
It is inserted into any available slot of the 90-70 series PLC backplane, and obtains power and communication interface circuits through the backplane. It communicates with the IC697 CPU through the system backplane, receives data and instructions sent by the CPU, and after processing, controls the connected display device to perform corresponding displays, or feeds back the instructions input by the operator through the display device to the CPU.

Application Cases:
  • Coal Handling Program Control System in Thermal Power Plants: During on-site commissioning of the coal handling program control system in thermal power plants, this module can be used to connect to the operator interface terminal. It can display the status of all on-site input signal lines, such as belt sensor signals, baffle in-place signals, coal plow upper and lower position signals, high and low coal level signals, and equipment status, making it convenient for operators to observe. It can also perform forced operations on output signals such as equipment start/stop and coal plow lifting/lowering, and display the corresponding status through the module to ensure the correct wiring of the program control system and assist in the program commissioning of the entire coal handling system.

  • Gas and Steam Turbine Control Systems: This module can be applied to GE's Mark I or Mark II series gas and steam turbine controllers. These controllers are used to control the turbine, limit the system output to the capacity of the device, and adjust control parameters during startup, etc. The IC697ADC701 module can help display the operating status and fault information of the turbine. When an irrecoverable system fault occurs, it can promptly provide a protective shutdown signal and feed back the fault situation to the operator through the display terminal, facilitating timely maintenance.

  • Constant Pressure Heating System: In a constant pressure heating system, the PLC is used to control two motors to keep the water pressure of the heating system within a constant range. The IC697ADC701 module can cooperate with the PLC to display information such as the system's water pressure value and the current frequency value of the frequency converter through the operator interface terminal. It can also display alarm signals when the water tank is empty or the frequency converter fails, making it convenient for staff to handle in a timely manner and ensuring the stable operation of the heating system.

  • Automation Control System in Cement Plants: The production process of cement plants involves multiple links, such as raw material grinding, clinker calcination, cement grinding, etc., which require monitoring the operating status of various equipment. The IC697ADC701 module can be connected to the PLC control system of the cement plant, and real-time display the operating parameters and fault alarms of each equipment through the display terminal, helping operators to grasp the production situation in a timely manner and ensuring the continuity of the production process and product quality.
