According to the ASTM D1298 standard, the petroleum density meter uses the liquid buoyancy method based on the Archimedes principle for measuring the specific weight of petroleum. Through special software calculations, quickly read the specific gravity, API °, Bomei degree, and concentration of crude oil and liquid petroleum products.

Technical data:

API ° and specific gravity exhibit a non-linear inverse relationship. Liquids with high specific gravity will exhibit low API °, and vice versa.

There is a linear relationship between specific gravity and w/gal concentration. It can be converted through E1 and E2.

3. According to the API ° reading, crude oil is divided into: light crude oil>31.1 API °, medium oil between 22.3 API °~31.1 API °, heavy oil<22.3 ° API °, and overweight crude oil<10.0 API °.
