Japan MIC Certification Standards and Process 2023-05-10 • orange
MIC certification is a mandatory certification for wireless products to enter the Japanese market. The MIC in MIC certification refers to the abbreviation of the MIC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, which regulates Japan's "Radio Law" and "Electrical Communications Business Law". The radio law in the previous certification was also called TELEC certification, but it is more official to call it Japan MIC certification professionally. In short, TELEC certification is equal to MIC certification.
MIC certification types:
TELEC certification includes test certification (Test Certification) and type certification (Type Certification).
1. Test certification is to verify each device unit, and this certification is only valid for each verified device unit
2. Type certification refers to the verification of samples of a batch of devices of the same design and manufacture, which is valid for this batch of devices. However, if the design or manufacture of the device changes, re-certification is required.
Japan MIC certification standards:
TELEC mandatory certification follows the Japanese Radio Law. The specific test specifications follow the MIC (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan) Notice No. 88 regulations.
The test items for WiFi and Bluetooth products are basically similar to the European standard EN300 328;
The use standard for 2.4GHz WiFi products (802.11b/g, 2412~-2472MHz) and Bluetooth products is MICNotice No.88 Annex43, but for the 14th channel of 2.4GHz WiFi products.
Products for Japan MIC certification:

4. RFID products.
All products with Bluetooth functions, such as Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers, 2.4G wireless mice, wireless keyboards, drones, VR glasses, smart glasses, smart robots, smart hosts, smart watches and other devices, are not only popular in China, but also exported to Japan.
Japanese MIC certification process:
1. Sign a commercial contract;
2. Provide application form and technical information;
3. Provide a fixed-frequency prototype and a complete machine for testing;
4. Test results;
5. Issue a draft test report and review the technical information at the same time;
6. Confirm the draft report and improve the technical information;
7. Submit the application certificate (MIC number will be issued, and the number needs to be printed on the product);
8. Obtain evidence and close the case.
MIC/TELEC certification information list:
1. Instructions (the homepage reflects the trademark, product name, and model. No warning is required);
2. Block diagram (all crystal oscillator information and chip model need to be reflected, and the antenna frequency needs to be drawn);
3. Circuit schematic (all chip models and crystal oscillator information need to be reflected, corresponding to the block diagram);
4. Operation description (a description of the chip and crystal oscillator working process in the block diagram, which needs to reflect the model and crystal oscillator information);
5. BOM (all crystal oscillator information and chip model need to be reflected);
6. PCB Layout (PCB board routing diagram);
7. Position number diagram (component location diagram on PCB board);
8. Label (need to indicate the size and location diagram on the product, need to mark the TELEC logo, need to mark the size of the TELEC logo);
9. ISO9001 (both the applicant and the manufacturer must have it, if not, LSO file is required);
10. Antenna specifications (a complete antenna report must include antenna type, antenna manufacturer information, antenna radiation pattern and antenna gain);
11. Software and hardware version number.
