Blackbody definition: can fully absorb the external radiation energy, and at the same time can fully radiate all its own energy of the object.

The main technical indexes of blackbody are: emissivity, cavity diameter, temperature uniformity and radiative temperature uncertainty. Therefore, in order to ensure the product quality of the blackbody, the blackbody is usually designed according to the temperature. Usually what we call a blackbody is an artificial blackbody. The emissivity of the artificial blackbody is close to 1, but not equal to 1.

The main function of the blackbody is to produce standard radiation at a certain temperature. Therefore, it is mainly used to verify various radiation thermometers in temperature measurement, such as optical pyrometers, infrared thermometers, infrared thermal imagers, etc.

Blackbody is mainly used in the field of temperature measurement in industry, and the main product is blackbody furnace. For the calibration and verification of radiation thermometers, the comparison method is usually used, that is, through a highly stable radiation source (usually a blackbody radiation source) and other supporting equipment, the temperature repeated by the standard and the temperature repeated by the detected radiation thermometer are compared to determine whether it is qualified or give calibration results.
