Application
Tape Shear Adhesion Tester is used for determining the ability of pressuresensitive tapes and labels to remain adhered under constant load applied parallel to the surface of the tape and substrate. The test provides a means of assessing the uniformity of the adhesive of a given type of pressure-sensitive tape.
Test Principle
Shear Adhesion to Standard Steel Panel: A strip of tape is applied to a standard steel panel under controlled roll down. The panel is mounted vertically, a standard mass is attached to the free end of the tape and the time to failure or the amount of slippage is determined.
It measures the ability of a pressure-sensitive tape to adhere to a standard steel panel under constant stress.
How to evaluate?
After the test time finishes, remove the weights. Use a magnifying glass with graduations to measure amount of slippage or record the time for the tape to separate completely from the panel.
