Fibreboard shipping containers are frequently subjected to in-plane compressive forces during shipment or storage. Therefore, resistance to crushing is an important measure of the performance characteristics of the containers.
The resistance to crushing depends on the design of the containers and on the in-plane crush resistance of the components of the board from which it is made.
ECTEdgewise Crush Resistance Test is used to determine the edgewise compressive strength (ECT) perpendicular to the axis of the flutes of fiberboard.
RCTThe ring crush test is used for the determination of the edgewise compressive strength (ring crush resistance) of paper and paperboard.
PATPin adhesion tester is used to measure the force required to separate corrugated board between the flute tips of corrugated medium and its linerboard facings.
FCTFlat crush test is used for the determination of the flat crush resistance of singlefaced and single-wall (double-faced) corrugated fibreboard.
