The UDC 2300 Universal DigitalController is a new low pricedaddition to Honeywell’s LeaderLinefamily.
This controller introduces newfeatures in the popular low priced¼ DIN size while retaining all thereliability, costeffectiveness,simplicity, and popular HMI ofHoneywell’s UDC 2000.
The UDC 2300 monitors and controlstemperatures and other variables inapplications such as environmentalchambers, plastic processingmachines, furnaces and ovens, andpackaging machinery.
The standardeatures include AccutuneII™ and thepopular single display, automaticmode model. A Dual Display modelwith Automatic/Manual control modesis optional. A Limit Control model isalso available.The UDC 2300 provides a low priced,1/4 DIN sized alternative for manyapplications. Its new featuresinclude:
Universal AC power supply,RS485 ASCII or Modbusâ RTUcommunications option,Input/Output isolation, and Fuzzy Logic overshoot suppression,result in price/performanceleadership in the performancesegment positioned below theUDC 3300 Controller.For the many thousands of satisfiedUDC 2000 users, UDC 2300 is downward compatible
with existingUDC 2000 applications andinstallations. It even uses the samecase; therefore, it can be easilyinserted into existing panelinstallations.
Features/Options
High Accuracy—Typically ±0.25% offull scale input with a typical resolutionof 15 bits.Analog Inputs—Two inputs areavailable. The first input accepts allthermocouple, RTD, mA, mV, andvoltage types (See Table 1.).Alternatively, the second input is ahigh level input and can be used as aremote setpoint, for data acquisition, aparameter to be alarmed on. All input types are configurable. All inputs aresampled six times per second (every166 ms). These two inputs areisolated from all other inputs and outputs, but not from each other.
Dual Setpoints - Simple push-button selection allows quick switchover fromprimary to alternate setpoint with minimal operator confusion.Manual/Automatic Modes—Bumpless, balanceless transferbetween control modes. Available witha Dual Display option and SPProgramming option.

Accutune II™—This standard featureprovides a new, truly plug and playtuning algorithm, which will, at thetouch of a button or through a digitalinput, accurately identify and tune anyprocess including those withdeadtime and integrating processes.
This speeds up and simplifies start-upplus allows retuning at any setpoint.
Fuzzy Logic—This standard featureuses fuzzy logic to suppress processvariable overshoot due to SPchanges or externally inducedprocess disturbances. It operates independently from AccutuneIIätuning. It does not change the PIDconstants, but temporarily modifies the internal controller response tosuppress overshoot. This allows more aggressive tuning to co-exist withsmooth PV response. It can beenabled or disabled depending on the application or the control criteria.CE Mark—Conformity with 73/23/EEC,Low Voltage Directive and 89/336/EEC, the EMC Directive as a standard feature
