According to the above formula, the engine speed of a bipolar generator that generates a 60 Hz output frequency is 3600 rpm. For the same generator configuration, to change the output frequency to 50 Hz, the engine speed needs to be reduced to 3000 rpm. Similarly, for a 4-pole generator, an engine speed of 1800 rpm produces an output of 60 Hz. Reducing the engine speed to 1500 rpm can produce an output of 50 Hz.

In the case of small or household generators, you can change the engine speed setting by making some changes on the control panel of your device. Follow the steps below to change the generator frequency from 60 Hz to 50 Hz:

Run the generator and adjust the frequency meter on the control panel to 50 Hz

Check the AC Voltmeter or potentiometer as appropriate, and read the voltage output of the generator. The output voltage decreases as the frequency decreases, which may be lower than the expected value

Adjust the AC Voltmeter or potentiometer on the control panel until the required 50 Hz output voltage is obtained

By making similar modifications on the control panel, you can increase the frequency from 50 Hz to 60 Hz

If the control panel does not display frequency, you need to first connect a device that measures frequency while the generator is running, and then change the engine speed.
