In our opinion, device manufacturers should choose to redesign and utilize electronic modules to provide all the hardware and software components required for communication, thereby avoiding developing projects from scratch. This is the only way to implement new Ethernet APL compatible devices in a short period of time. Softing provides communication module APL support for manufacturers facing this challenge through its new products, which are low-cost SMD hardware modules. The commModule APL provides a pre installed PROFINET stack, a configurable application data model, and command mapping, which can be used to migrate existing HART and Modbus devices to Ethernet-APL without the need to write any code. Use the corresponding commScripter tool to assign HART or Modbus commands. CommModule APL has completed extensive EMC and environmental testing, as well as consistency testing of Ethernet APL physical layer and PROFINET protocol with PA Profile 4.02. This module has also passed the pre certification of ATEX and IECEx standards. All of these features help significantly reduce the effort and time investment that needs to be considered when developing device hardware from scratch
