Brief introduction of PET plastic
PET plastic raw material, polyethylene terephthalate is the most important variety of thermoplastic polyester, the English name is Polyethylene terephthalate PET or PEIT (hereinafter referred to as PET), commonly known as polyester resin. It is a condensation polymer of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol, and together with PBT, it is collectively referred to as thermoplastic polyester, or saturated polyester.
Advantages of PET as packaging material:
1. It has good mechanical properties, the impact strength is 3~5 times that of other films, and it has good folding resistance.
2. Resistant to oil, fat, dilute acid, dilute alkali, and most solvents.
3. With excellent high and low temperature resistance, it can be used for a long time in the temperature range of 120 °C, short-term use can withstand high temperature of 150 °C, and can withstand low temperature of -70 °C, and the mechanical properties of high and low temperature have little effect on it.
4. The gas and water vapor permeability is low, and it has excellent gas, water, oil and odor performance.
5. High transparency, can block ultraviolet rays, good gloss.

PET is a milky white or light yellow highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and shiny surface. Creep resistance, fatigue resistance, abrasion resistance and dimensional stability are good, wear is small and hardness is high, and it has the toughness in thermoplastics: good electrical insulation performance, less affected by temperature, but poor corona resistance. , weather resistance, chemical resistance, good stability, low water absorption, weak acid and organic solvent resistance, but not hot water soaking, not alkali resistant. In addition to the properties of PBT, PET also has the following characteristics:
1. The heat distortion temperature and long-term use temperature are the highest among thermoplastic general engineering plastics;
2. The bending strength is 200MPa, the elastic modulus is 4000MPa, the creep resistance and fatigue resistance are also very good, the surface hardness is high, and the mechanical properties are similar to thermosetting plastics;
3. Since the price of ethylene glycol used in the production of PET is almost half cheaper than that of butanediol used in the production of PBT, PET resin and reinforced PET are the most expensive engineering plastics, with high cost performance.
