VOK®- AP 40 is an organic modified bentonite derivative, which is used as thixotropic thickener and anti settling agent in solvent based paint systems with medium and low polarity

VOK®- AP 40 is a traditional organic clay, which needs to add activator to give full play to its effect.

As an organic modified montmorillonite product, VOK®- AP 40 can swell in organic medium and establish gel structure (card house structure). The thixotropic gel structure is formed by weak hydrogen bonds between single montmorillonite lamellae. In order to obtain good efficiency, the lamellae need to be completely separated (the agglomerates are completely dispersed into original particles).

Recommended use

VOK®- AP 40 is a rheological additive used in medium and low polarity solvent based paint systems. VOK®- AP 40 prevents sagging and settling in resin based system

VOK®- AP 40 can be used in heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings and rust inhibitors based on oxidized vaseline salt .

More applications: trade sales, wood colorants, printing inks, architectural coatings, DIY coatings, etc.

Suitable for solvents and/or resins: solvent oils (Regulation 66), naphtha, xylene, toluene, mixtures of aliphatic and aromatic solvents. VOK®- AP 40 is not recommended for oxygenated solvent systems (ketones, alcohols, etc.). VOK®- AP 40 is applicable to alkyd, process oil, epoxy ester and oil modified polyurethane.
