German technical background VOK ®- FA 620 Wetting and dispersing agent

Overview: VOK ®- FA 620 is a kind of wetting and dispersing agent used to produce high concentration and low viscosity aqueous pigment concentrate.

VOK is used for application and performance ®- The pigment paste of FA 620 is applicable to the coloring of various waterborne coatings, such as mercerized latex paint, high gloss latex paint, paper coatings and waterborne industrial coatings. Generally, the concentration of the pigment slurry in the paint can be as high as 10%.

VOK ®- FA 620 can be used as a grinding carrier and can be used with polar solvents such as water and ethylene glycol. The product can also be used with polymeric dispersants (such as VOK ®- FA 504). We recommend this polymeric dispersant for pigment pastes containing hydrophilic pigments and fillers, such as most ferric oxides and calcium carbonate.

The stability of the pigment slurry depends on its viscosity. Addition of protective colloid (such as cellulose thickener) or excessive VOK ®- FA 620 can increase the viscosity of pigment slurry and improve its stability. The pigment slurry is preferably prepared on a ball mill, a sand mill and a ball mill. The pigment slurry of easily dispersed pigments can also be prepared by high-speed disperser.

Usage VOK ®- The amount of FA 620 added is determined by the stepwise test method. We recommend testing low color VOK ®- When FA 620 is added in different amounts, the paste viscosity will be the highest only when the amount is accurate.

In order to obtain good stability, we recommend that the actual addition amount exceed 30% of the theoretical addition amount, for example:

l 6％VOK ®- FA 620 can obtain the minimum viscosity

L Recommended dosage: 8% VOK ®- FA 620

If necessary, SERDAS GBR or SERDAS GBO can be added as defoamer, with the amount of 0.2-0.4% of the total slurry.
