The belt is used to transfer mechanically powered tape, including flat drive tape and triangular drive tape (V-tape). It consists of rubber and reinforcing materials (such as cotton canvas, rayon, synthetic fibers, etc.). It is made of multi-layer hanging rubber canvas, synthetic fiber fabric, cord and steel wire, etc., and is made by laminating rubber and then forming and vulcanizing.

Whether replacing the belt or installing on a new gearing, the following steps are recommended.
1. Turn off the power supply, remove the protective cover, and loosen the mounting bolts on the motor base to move the motor back and forth.
2. Move the motor to make the belt loose enough to easily remove, Never use a tool to skid it.
3. Remove the old belt and check for abnormal wear. Excessive wear can mean problems with the design or maintenance of the transmission.
4. Choose the right belt to replace.
5, Clean the SMT transmission belt and pulley: the rag should be wiped with a small amount of non-volatile liquid, do not soak in the detergent or use the cleaning agent to scrub the belt, do not rub with a sandpaper or use a sharp object to scrape the belt. The belt must be kept dry before installation.
6, Inspect the belt for cracks or wear, the simpler method is to use the wheel groove gage to check. If there is excessive wear, the pulley must be replaced.
7. Checking if each SMT pulley is on a flat surface.
8. Check the rest of the transmission components, such as the symmetry, durability and lubrication of the bearing and bushing.
9. For transmissions using multiple belts, all belts must be replaced at one time. If only one belt is replaced on multiple belt drives, the newly replaced belt may be loose, but the remaining old belt will be too loose, and most of the power may only be loaded by this new belt, causing premature failure of it.
10. Adjust the center distance of the transmission device, turn the drive wheel a few turns by hand, and check whether the tension is appropriate by using the belt tension gauge.
11. Tighten the motor's mounting bolts to the specified torque.
12. Replace the protective cover.
13. It is recommended to take the test run procedure. This procedure is to start the transmission, run at full load and then stop, check and adjust the tension to the recommended value. The operation of the belt at full load allows the belt to fully conform to the wheel groove. If it is possible to run the belt for 24 hours, it should be operated for at least one hour. The commissioning procedure reduces the number of times the tension is re-adjusted later.
14. During the test operation, the operation should be closely monitored to see if there is abnormal vibration and it is necessary to listen to abnormal noise. It is good to turn off the machine after running for a period of time, check the heat condition of the bearing and the motor; if it feels too hot, it may be too tight, or the bearing is asymmetrical, or the lubrication is not correct.
15. For the timing belt, the slack during operation is extremely small, so there is generally no need to re-adjust the tension, but we still recommend starting the device and operate as same as above NO.14
